So much to unpack here…. Certainly a good deal for the fans if this is the only cost involved with going to an event. Some points…. The COGS (cost of goods sold) here is probably 70-80% if sponsorships aren’t taken into account. However, Coca Cola is a multi million dollar sponsor of the venue and only their products are sold there, eg there isn’t a Pepsi Starry in sight. So that helps with this for sure. And if you want a souvenir cup for your Coke, it doubles to $4 :) So food at this end of the pricing scale probably isn’t considered a profit center for the team/venue. At the other end, as an example, Stadium Nachos (Red & black tortilla chips, braised brisket, queso blanco, pico de gallo, BBQ sauce) are $18.00. Plus the coke and you’re at $20 as well. Anyway…. When the Stadium of the Future™️ opens here in Jacksonville in the next 3 or so years, part that plan is to do similar here. Eg, take food out as a profit center. The most public example of this has been Mark Lamping ‘s example of pizza. If a pizza place at the stadium has a brick and mortar business outside of the stadium, the stadium prices will be the same as the outside of the stadium pricing. But…. A quick google shows that season tickets are easily 3x the cost of a similar seat at the Jacksonville Jaguars (2 seats at $10,930 v $3222 as an example using my season ticket price [that, yes, I locked in ages ago.]) And so…. Ticket prices here will go up to recapture the lost revenue from food sales. tl; dr: it’s a zero sum game
