Did you know that vegetation management is one of the largest operating expenses for many power distribution utilities? Current processes are not only manual and labor-intensive but also pose risks such as weather-induced outages and wildfire ignition. ⚡🔥 I’m very proud that StormGeo, with our partners, is revolutionizing how we approach vegetation management for electric grids with the GridEyeS project. By combining satellite and artificial intelligence technologies, GridEyeS will pave the way for more resilient grids and improved efficiency. 🌿🛰️ Kudos to my great colleagues who continuously innovate and develop products that have the capacity to change the world for a lot of companies. 🙏 Check out how improved vegetation management can create more sustainable and resilient electric grids and positively impact the future of energy distribution 👇 https://lnkd.in/dQP-FeyF #StormGeo #GridEyeS #vegetationmanagement #innovation

Q: “Do you know about Voyager 1 and its flight data subsystem (FDS)? How often does it transmit data back to Earth? What is Voyager’s transmission frequency? What is its direction or trajectory away from Earth? How would we use Deep Space Network to send it a command, what is its command set, and what is the data rate? An example of a command would be” A: Yes, I'm familiar with Voyager 1 and its Flight Data Subsystem (FDS). Voyager 1 transmits data back to Earth approximately every 20 hours. Its transmission frequency is 160 bit/s. The direction or trajectory away from Earth for Voyager 1 is currently moving in the general direction of the Polaris star, but due to its high velocity and the continual change in Earth's position, it doesn't follow a direct line. To send a command to Voyager 1, we would use NASA's Deep Space Network (DSN). The DSN is capable of sending commands at various data rates, but for Voyager 1, the typical data rate is about 20 bit/s. A command sent to Voyager 1 might be something like a new set of instructions for its science experiments or a course correction adjustment. The exact command set and format varies depending on the specific function being controlled. For example, here's an example of a simple "hello world" type command that Voyager 1 could receive: [START] I0: 01101111 01101100 01101110 01101111 01100101 01110100 01101101 01111001 I1: 40 2F 4B 53 48 65 72 69 6D 65 73 73 41 6C 69 6E 65 [END] This command, when received by Voyager 1, would be interpreted as follows: I0: ASCII characters representing "Hello" in binary format I1: ASCII instruction set with the opcode "HEX" (40 hex) and the specific instruction "PRINT STRING" (2F hex). Followed by an identifier for this command ("VB") and the actual string data ("Hello World"). This is just a simple example, but it illustrates the basic concept of how commands are sent and received with Voyager 1 using the DSN. #wegrokai #direct #promptengineering #voyagernews

Update #4 for Peregrine Mission One: Unfortunately, it appears the failure within the propulsion system is causing a critical loss of propellant. The team is working to try and stabilize this loss, but given the situation, we have prioritized maximizing the science and data we can capture. We are currently assessing what alternative mission profiles may be feasible at this time.

Today, my favorite conference of the year, Trimble Userday 2024 in Gardemoen (Norway), begins. If I had to choose one event in the calendar that I couldn't miss, it would be this one. This is already my 8th conference. This year, I will focus on IFC 4.3 and present how we built a tool that will revolutionize infrastructure projects. Who will I see at the event?
