The company leverages mRNA to deliver CRISPR components to knockout the KLB1 gene. https://lnkd.in/gmzwDE7j This is a competitive space with other nucleic acids in development (Ionis' ASO donidalorsen in Ph3), as well as the likes of Argo Bio and ADARx, in addition to mainstay treatments like the mAb Takhzyro. BUT... a CRISPR-based knockout could be a "one-and-done" type treatment. We'll be seeing more of this "one and done" vs. a regularly dosed therapy in the near future so we'll see how these dynamics play out in the market. Game on! #pharma #drugdevelopment #genetherapy

Kv3.1 is a voltage-gated potassium channel encoded by the KCNC1 gene. At the recent SLAS (Society for Laboratory Automation and Screening) EU meeting, we presented a poster to demonstrate how a cell line expressing the KCNC1 V434L mutation was generated and validated using biophysical and pharmacological methods, then used to screen approximately 6,800 compounds from The Broad Institute Repurposing Hub to identify inhibitors for potential use in the treatment of patients with this rare mutation.
