Great to see this new report out today from Climate Resilient by Nature, unpacking how #voluntary #carbon #market projects driven by nature-based solutions can offer pathways to sustainable finance while protecting forests and delivering benefits to communities. The report — researched and written by Sustineo P/L and put together by the team at WWF-Australia’s Climate Resilient by Nature — looks at the environmental and social damage from unsustainable logging in the Pacific region. It highlights the urgency to protect forests from excessive logging and the need to explore alternative, sustainable economic pathways that lead to conservation. 🌍 Protecting nature is essential: Our Co-Founder Martin Schaefer gave an interview to FAZ about the $1M grant from the Indianapolis Zoo to save the critically endangered Blue-throated Hillstar in Ecuador. The Blue-throated Hillstar, one of the world’s rarest hummingbirds with only about 100 left in the wild, faces a critical risk of extinction. Fundación de Conservación Jocotoco, led by Martin Schaefer, is dedicated to protecting this species—a mission recently empowered by the Indianapolis Zoo's $1 million grant through its Saving Species Challenge. This effort underscores that effective nature conservation is not a luxury but a pressing necessity. From Martin Schaefer's recent interview with Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung: 🌱 Biodiversity is our lifeline. Healthy ecosystems provide the clean air, pure water, and climate stability that sustain life. 🏞️ Nature needs space to thrive. Establishing safe habitats like protected reserves gives vulnerable species a fighting chance. 💼 Nature and economy must align.
