An ecological or wildlife corridor is a clearly defined geographical space that is governed and managed over the long term to maintain or restore effective ecological connectivity.[4] The following terms are often used similarly: ‘linkages,’ ‘MegaLinkages,’ ‘wildway,’ ‘safe passages,’ ‘ecological connectivity areas,’ ‘ecological connectivity zones,’ and ‘permeability areas.’ The term corridor suggests a single conduit, whereas the term linkage is commonly used to refer to a connectivity area with multiple strands. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife regulates disturbance to streambeds and #riparian habitats under section 1600 to 1617 of the Fish and Game Code. An agreement is typically needed for development in these areas. The application for streambed alteration provides information like project location, description, existing condition, and biological resources. For example, if an endangered bird was known to exist on the project site, the application must reflect that finding. Read more about the requirements and steps to agreement approval here: https://lnkd.in/gXsEiCBY #wildlife #streambed #projectmanagement

Need to document wildlife, perhaps for environmental impact assessment work? The Wingtra will get you an image resolution that make it possible to quantify eider duck's nests in a given nesting area, as seen here. In addition to high standard documentation, on site disturbance will also be minimized. Image resolution allowed on LinkedIn is low, DM me if you want to check out a high resolution version of image. #wingtra #pix4d #arctic #environment #wildlife

Did you know? Passionate bird-watchers have known for a long time that the hunt for elusive species requires the right equipment. The far-beyond variety of binoculars available are proof that distant birds and their meticulous plumage can capture the entire attention! If there’s a waterfowl worth viewing, a lightweight, portable tripod and spotting scope will make it happen. Birds unseen are memorable, but bird-watchers have understood that making the sighting occurs takes the specialized tools. Addressing all of these bird-watching needs and more are the top picks among bird-watchers. - Comprehensive birders know that the right equipment can make a world of difference in spotting elusive species. A pair of professional-grade binoculars, for instance, can bring far-off birds to sharp focus, revealing fine details of plumage otherwise never seen. Similarly, portability and efficiency are key features of spotting scopes, allowing birders to appreciate the lives of waterfowl from miles away. While these tools are perhaps a bit expensive, the thrill of witnessing rare birds hanging out outside and being a part of their world is completely worth it for the passionate birders out there.

You're probably wondering about our logo. It looks a bit empty without the panda, doesn't it? Now imagine the world without pandas, without any wildlife. On this #WorldWildlifeDay, we're joining many others in removing nature from our logo to highlight a #WorldWithoutNature. Because – like our logo – our world just doesn't work without #nature. In 50 years, we have lost over 69% of wildlife populations. We must act now to stop nature loss. Repost using #WorldWildlifeDay and #WorldWithoutNature to spread the word. #wildlife #conservation #WWFIndia #WWF

Since 2016, TOBIN has been involved in the design and implementation of various ornithological surveys to obtain baseline data in order to assess the potential effects of the Uisce Éireann Water Supply Project Eastern and Midlands Region (WSP), on birds and their habitats. The survey design and target species selection took into consideration the results of desktop studies, consultation with key government and non-government organisations, and the analysis of the typical bird communities likely to be found within the habitats of the ornithological study area. Numerous survey methodologies were subsequently utilised to collect breeding and wintering bird data, including vantage point surveys, breeding bird walkovers, boat surveys, winter waterbird surveys, and hen harrier roost surveys. The results of these surveys will be carefully analysed and used to provide robust scientific data for the Environmental Impact Assessment and Appropriate Assessment for the Proposed Project. We're proud to continue to play a key role in the WSP and are currently undertaking another round of ornithological surveys, in addition to other ecological surveys, along the route of the Proposed Project. As we look ahead, we're excited to continue our collaboration with Uisce Éireann Irish Water, ensuring sustainable and reliable water solutions for the future. #teamTOBIN #water #supply #Eastern #Midlands #birds #ornithological #surveys

It is the first time since the 1890s that this large mammal has been seen in the south-west of Rio Grande do Sul state. Experts think the anteater came from Iberá, where a major rewilding project has been underway since 2007. https://ow.ly/ctr550QvxmS #rewilding #conservationoptimism
