It is interesting to see what is different from a capitalist perspective, in the US, talking about addressing consumer demand. It is also interesting the roll out of branches in poor neighbourhoods and proactively improving financial literacy. A very different perspective to the Australian conversation. “We saw in the second quarter a real inflection in the dialogue, and I think there's a real divergence between the data and the dialogue. The data is very clear, the M&A markets are down this year, and I think with 26 days left in the year that statement will still be true at the end of the year, but the dialogue really changed in our markets back in the second quarter. That's been a steady progression. I think that at that point, executives and boards declared the waiting game is over in M&A, and we've seen a nice progression in dialogue and think that's a very good leading indicator for future announced M&A activity which we do expect in 2024.” Perella Weinberg Partner and Chief Executive Officer, Andrew Bednar, spoke to CNBC and Leslie Picker live from the Goldman Sachs U.S. Financial Services Conference this morning.
