Last night, Hurricane Helene 🌀 made landfall in the Florida Big Bend, causing storm surge, flooding, high winds, and a path of destruction. Millions across the state were affected by power outages and other hurricane and tropical storm conditions. As communities and officials begin to assess the damage, IEM President & CEO, Bryan Koon, offered insight as a former Director of Florida’s Division of Emergency Management. Bryan stressed the importance of immediate response operations, noting that these processes take precedence over other routine government activities as officials focus on the storm and its impact. 📰 Read the POLITICO article for more information on hurricane response and Helene’s impact: https://lnkd.in/ek5GdtB9 #TeamIEM #IEMleadership #IEMintheNews #IEMnews #HurricaneHelene #hurricaneseason #hurricaneresponse #hurricanerelief #atlantichurricaneseason #Floridahurricanes #emergencymanagement #response #recovery #disasterresponse #disasterecovery #disasterrelief #FloridaStrong

While nobody knows for certain how many of these predicted storms will form and where they will go if they do, keeping supplies on hand and a plan in place early can help you and your family stay safe should a tropical storm or hurricane threaten our region.
