Initially, leaders thought the future of work would be fully remote. Next, consensus favored a hybrid work model. Now, some prominent technology industry leaders, who were among the early champions of workplace flexibility, are reneging on a commitment to these models, and we’re in a moment characterized by ever-more return-to-office (RTO) directives. #hr #hybridwork #returntooffice #workplaceculture #flexibility

Are we as well set up for hybrid working as we thing we are? Two things stand out from this report. 1. The effective way to manage hybrid working is to interrogate more regularly how it is actually working for people. Sounds simple, but often overlooked. If the organisation pays attention to how people like to work or work best, it stands to reason that productivity will be greatly increased. 2. And linked to this, how well trained are managers for leading teams in a hybrid environment? This includes being able to effectively listen, communicate, and up-skill their teams on hybrid best practice and pitfalls to avoid. Creating a hybrid working culture with intention can have a huge impact on our wellbeing. For my own experience, it can be the difference between feeling valued, included and aware of expectations, or being left feeling uncertain, devalued, and demotivated. If this future of the office is hybrid, we should probably spend a bit more time working out how to get it right. #wellbeing #hybrid #hr
