Last month we held our 2024 (annual) BBQ and Project Presentations. Each year we have our designers present their active projects to share the great work that is happening in our studio. This is a great opportunity to connect our office, learn from our broader hive mind, and spark discussions. This also allows our younger designers to exercise their presentation skill muscles! #studiolife #firmculture #practicemakesperfect #summerbbq #pechakucha #presentingskillstraining #officebbq #oldschoolgrilling

Project news: The Sausalito Ferry Landside Improvements will expand the footprint of the existing ferry landing by creating additional space for cyclists and pedestrians to queue for the ferry. These improvements will also expand the existing plaza, providing additional gathering areas for visitors, and will be a part of a larger network of public open spaces envisioned for downtown Sausalito. #sausalitoferry #landscapearchitecture https://lnkd.in/gmm9UAcv

It was great being a part of this important project. We always enjoy working with EBMUD and our amazing design partners!
The East Bay Municipal Utilities District approved the Walnut Creek Water Treatment Plant's final environmental impact report on July 9. The Treatment Plant is a key piece of utility infrastructure that helps the EBMUD provide clean drinking water for our local community, positioning us all for a #resilientfuture. Our team developed a comprehensive architectural design strategy for the water treatment plant, first assessing the existing building inventory, including form, materials, finishes, and colors, and then identifying the key themes to bring into the new design work. We then applied the aesthetic design principles to a total of 20 buildings and process structures, including a new 17,400 SF maintenance building, to meet the engineering criteria set forth by EBMUD’s in-house engineering team. The resulting structures will fit into the landscape, minimizing impacts on views from the adjacent residential neighborhoods and nearby recreational trails. Earlier this year, senior associate John Martin, attended a conference on Preserving Modern Architecture in Havana, Cuba. Organized by Friends of Havana, Docomomo Cuba, and the Ludwig Foundation, the conference aimed to “Educate, Conserve, Activate and Promote” Cuba’s modern heritage. The 3-day workshop included lectures and case studies by important international architects, conservators, and representatives from World Heritage Funds, Getty Conservation Institute, ARG, Docomomo, Marmol Razinger, RLA, Concreto Academy, WJE, Modernism Week and many more. They shared their expertise with Cuban architects, students, and officials to spur interest and action in preserving and recognizing the economic potential of their modern heritage.

We are excited to announce that the City of Patterson has broken ground on the Salado Creek Urban Bicycle Trail Project this week. RHAA has assisted the City of Patterson on several projects over the years, including the Patterson Downtown Visioning Project and the Centennial Park Master Plan. This new project, funded through an Urban Greening Grant, will create connectivity with existing City bicycle and pedestrian paths and will connect the local elementary and middle school with 3 public parks. Patterson is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for its community members by creating safe places to recreate outdoors, and RHAA is thrilled to help them achieve this. You can read more about the project here: https://lnkd.in/gS_UgmE7
