"...these (caregivers) are probably going to be some of your best candidates because they've been thrown into the fire. They figured it out, and they came out like a champion. Now they're sitting in front of you saying, I'm ready to work. " It is true. #Caregivers can make some of your best candidates for jobs. Christina Keys went from career woman to caregiver when her mother had a life changing stroke in 2013. She cared for her for 10 years. Turning a mess into a message, she is now a National Speaker and Advocate as well as the Founder and CEO of Keys for Caregiving where she is connecting businesses and Family Caregivers to collectively transform the Care Space community and amplify our voices for change. Selma Archer, Esq., MBA and I were honored to interview her for our "Stories From Real Working Caregivers" piece of our newsletter and website. Please read the entire interview here: https://lnkd.in/emHngbRr "If you looked at my resume today on LinkedIn, you'd see that I proudly display “family caregiver.” Because the skills I learned as a family caregiver….my research skills...(are) better than any job I was at. ....... …..As a family caregiver, you are doing med management, case management, you're managing the caregivers that are there. So, you're a leader there too. You're a manager there too…. But you're also doing it in a high stress situation. Why would you not want to put that down? They're going to make an even better candidate than they could possibly be. Because they've gone through things that have been highly emotional, highly stressful. They had to learn things without being… taught anything. They had to learn on the go. " #caringconvos #employer #hiring #workingcaregiver #hr #managers

Just because Care Assistants and Support Workers apply for multiple jobs, doesn’t mean that: 1. They are job hoppers 2. They are too indecisive 3. They are not in care for the right reasons 4. They won’t last long 5. They have the wrong attitude 6. They’re doing it to collect benefits. The care industry has created this mentality in care staff as it’s one of the hardest vocations going. How can it still suprise you that people apply for multiple roles when we’re still nowhere near treating care staff as well as we should be doing? Stop the pre judgement of candidates before you have even heard their side of the story. #carerecruitment #retention

Becoming a support worker is more than a career choice; it's an opportunity to profoundly impact the lives of individuals facing diverse challenges. The decision to pursue this path stems from a deep-rooted desire to cultivate empathy, offer assistance, and play a pivotal role in enhancing lives. Support workers play a crucial role in aiding individuals who require daily assistance, providing personalized care tailored to each person's needs. Their responsibilities extend beyond those of a care assistant, encompassing tasks like household chores, meal preparation, dressing assistance, medication administration, and cleaning duties to support those with disabilities or learning challenges. - Making a Positive Difference: Support workers have the privilege of positively influencing the lives of those they serve, whether individuals with disabilities, mental health issues, or the elderly. Empowering others to lead fulfilling lives brings immeasurable satisfaction through witnessing progress, growth, and newfound independence. - Job Satisfaction: Being a support worker offers immense personal gratification. Apart from impacting those you support, the role's diversity ensures each day is unique. Job security and opportunities for career advancement await those with a strong work ethic and ambition. - Building Meaningful Connections: Support workers excel at forging relationships, fostering trust, rapport, and genuine connections with those under their care. Establishing a sense of belonging enriches lives, while teamwork within the healthcare setting strengthens collaborative bonds. - Self-Enrichment and Impact: Working in health and social care exposes you to diverse experiences, enabling personal growth and self-discovery. Engaging with individuals from varied backgrounds equips you with new skills and insights, fostering personal development and enhancing the lives of others.

🌟 Grandparenting vs. Healthcare Staffing: Turns Out, I’m Rocking Both! 🌟 Who knew juggling grandkids and healthcare staffing would have so much in common? Whether I'm managing toddlers or talent, the skills overlap in ways you wouldn’t expect. Let me break it down: 👶 Spoiling Grandkids vs. 🤝 Spoiling Clients As a grandparent, I’m the queen of sneaking sweets and making memories. In staffing, I spoil my clients and candidates with top-notch service and perfectly matched opportunities. They get the good stuff too—just in the form of career growth! ⏳ Patience (But Let’s Be Real…) vs. ⚡ Speed (Because Deadlines!) Grandparents are known for patience… but let’s be real, even I can only handle so many rounds of “Baby Shark.” In staffing? No time for that! We move fast to match the best healthcare professionals with the right jobs, and we do it without missing a beat. You want fast results? I'm your go-to! 🎯 Life Lessons vs. 💼 Career Lessons I’m the wise sage for my grandkids (because obviously, Lola knows best). In staffing, I’m the career coach, connecting people with opportunities that transform their lives—because career glow-ups are a thing! ❤️ All the Love vs. 💪 All the Hustle Grandparenting comes with endless love, hugs, and maybe a few extra cookies. Healthcare staffing? It’s all hustle, heart, and making sure every candidate and client feels supported like family. (Minus the cookies, but I’ll throw in some encouragement!) Bottom line: Whether I’m wrangling grandkids or placing top-tier healthcare talent, I’m all in—and I’m crushing it. 💥 P.S. I just found out last night that I have a granddaughter on the way...coming soon April 7, 2025! #SuperGrandma #HealthcareStaffingBoss #MultitaskingMaster #EmpoweringOthers #CareerMagic

What 2024, gave me professionally: - Too many open roles, not enough candidates. - Candidates who wanted remote positions... in bedside nursing. - More coffee than any human should legally consume. But also, it gave us the joy of matching incredible talent with life-changing opportunities. Let’s do it all again (but maybe with less coffee) in 2025! #talenthealthcare #HealthcareRecruiting

There is a lot of debate at the moment about what constitutes “Good Work” and very often temporary work is seen as the short straw, yet over 1 million temporary workers are out every day supporting our economy. Our trade body the Recruitment & Employment Confederation have comissoned an excellent piece of research interviewing over 500 temporary workers which proves this couldn’t be further from the truth. The survey found: Eight in 10 temporary agency workers (79%) say their work provides an essential need for flexibility. More than half of temp workers (53%) believe this is the right role for their current stage in life. More than two-thirds of agency workers (68%) say their work provides a greater work-life balance. An overwhelming majority (73%) of health and social care temp workers value flexibility over any other benefits. Almost one in three (28%) would struggle to find work if it wasn’t for agency temp work. If temporary work, or hiring temporary staff is something you have never considered the stats speak for themselves. Go on, give it a try and you might just discover how tempting a temp can be!
Jobs transform lives and I help REC members do that with access to specialist recruitment related resources.
Meet Jan. Resource guru. Temp worker and living with MS. When Jan was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) in 2016, she knew continuing to work full time in her permanent role was no longer feasible. A temporary role in recruitment enabled Jan to return to work, using her extensive skills and experience, whilst managing her health condition. It also allows her to spend time with her aunt who has Alzheimer’s. Thanks to temp work, Jan could return to work and manage her health. Discover Jan's story 👉 https://bit.ly/4gcsDVS #TempWorkWorks Recruitment & Employment Confederation
