Meet the UK’s Paris Agreement commitment to reduce emissions by at least 68% from 1990 levels by 2030. Establish a Net Zero Delivery Authority and a Chief Secretary for Sustainability in the Treasury to coordinate efforts. Implement a new industrial strategy centred on tackling climate change and invest in education and training for a low-carbon economy. Ensure nature-based solutions, including tree planting, are part of the climate strategy. _____________________________ ⚡ 𝐈𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐑𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐰𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐏𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 ⚡ Generate 90% of the UK’s electricity from renewables by 2030. Remove restrictions on new solar and wind power. Support investment and innovation in tidal and wave power. Build the necessary grid infrastructure with a strategic Land and Sea Use Framework. Invest in energy storage solutions like green hydrogen, pumped storage, and battery capability. Build more electricity interconnectors between the UK and other countries for energy security. _____________________________ 💷 𝐄𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐲 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐅𝐚𝐢𝐫 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 💷 Implement a proper windfall tax on oil and gas super-profits. Decouple electricity prices from wholesale gas prices to ensure fairer energy bills. Enable small low-carbon generators to export electricity on fair terms. Require large energy suppliers to work with community schemes to sell power locally. Reduce grid connection costs and reform energy networks to permit local energy grids.
