"72% of employers report difficulty in finding qualified candidates" (Source: SHRM). That stat is crazy. I'd imagine some of the reasons why this percentage is so high will be a mix of the below: ☠️ Prolonged hiring processes and higher recruitment costs. ☠️ Pressure to fill positions quickly may lead to hiring less qualified candidates. ☠️ Unfilled positions result in overburdened employees and decreased productivity. What If I told you there was a way to combat all of these? 💡 #Recruitment #Hiring #Manufacturing

As a professional in the recruitment industry, it's disheartening to see companies struggle with positions open for more than six months, continuously reposting without success. Hiring should be efficient and effective, taking 30 to 45 days to hire a candidate. If it's taking 8 to 11 months, it's likely a sign that the hiring process needs optimization or external expertise. Companies owe it to themselves and candidates to ensure their hiring practices are up to par. #EfficientHiring #RecruitmentStandards

HIRE MINDS. Bernhart Associates Working Knowledge for Employers I'm still working with employers who don't have a realistic idea what kind of candidates might be available and the money it might take to hire them. That's understandable, as not all employers are in the labor market on a regular basis. My advice has never wavered: Don't go into a search thinking you will find the "perfect candidate." Don't go into a search thinking that just because your company is wonderful everyone wants to work there, and that there aren't 4 or 5 other employers trying to hire the same candidates. Better to go into it with this frame of mind: We will hire the absolute best person we can, and to do that, we know this might take quite a few interviews in order to know what is available and the commensurate salary expected. Before you pull the trigger don't just know the candidate. Know the market. #bernhartworkingknowledge

Pre-screening candidates can significantly save time and streamline the hiring process, ensuring that the right fit is found more quickly and efficiently. By implementing a thorough pre-screening procedure, employers can filter out unsuitable candidates early on, allowing them to focus their efforts on the most promising applicants. This not only accelerates the recruitment process but also enhances the overall quality of hires. #HiringProcess #RecruitmentStrategy #EfficientHiring #QualityCandidates

Just a reminder for hiring managers to consider the bigger picture when evaluating candidates. Does every role that offers a fair wage truly demand a college degree and 7 years of experience? While seeking quality hires is crucial, it's essential to assess candidates comprehensively. Take the time to have conversations and understand the full potential of each applicant. By broadening your perspective, you may uncover exceptional employees who don't fit the conventional mold. #Hiring #Recruitment #CandidateEvaluation

When you don't prioritize hiring, you let top talent slip away, disservice current employees covering for open positions, and disservice those who trust you to bring in top talent. In the example below: I have personal knowledge that this position was vacated in late August 2023. This position, once offered will require a background check (maybe a month), not to mention onboarding time before stepping into the building. In addition, one will need to physically work in this position for about 4 weeks before receiving the first paycheck. *Applied to position 9/26/23 *Posting closed 10/16/23 *Referred to hiring manager 11/14/23 *Phone call asking to interview 12/4/23 (but not for two weeks) *Interview 12/18/23 (great interview, told decision to be made after holidays, provided HR number to follow up) *Weekly phone calls to HR 1/15/24 - 3/15/24 *HR response (same response 8 weeks in a row) *"They have not told us who they want to hire yet" *"They are short-staffed, so it's taking a while" (no kidding, you won't hire anyone for a position that has been VACANT for SIX MONTHS) **YOU ARE SHORT-STAFFED BECAUSE YOU WILL NOT PRIORITIZE HIRING. **WHO HAS UP TO SIX MONTHS TO WAIT AROUND FOR YOU TO MAKE DECISIONS AND GET THE BALL ROLLING? **WHO HAS MORE THAN SIX MONTHS TO WAIT FOR A PAYCHECK? **HOW MANY DECLINATIONS DO YOU GET FROM TOP CHOICES BECAUSE THEY MOVED ON AND ACCEPTED OTHER POSITIONS? Please do better. Consider the current employees covering for that empty position. Get them the help they need, or you'll lose them too.
