Last night's Oscars gave us many unforgettable moments, but Ryan Gosling's performance as "I'm Just Ken" truly stood out. It was more than entertainment; it was a reminder of the incredible power of fun and memorability in any performance – be it on the stage or in the boardroom. This philosophy of blending fun with serious business echoed vividly at last week's GLOMO and Rhode Sense Movers Party at Prohibition in New Orleans. The atmosphere was electric, filled with jazz, laughter, and vibrant discussions. It was a clear testament to how bringing joy and memorability into professional settings can significantly amplify engagement and results. In logistics, a field often viewed through a lens of complexity and seriousness, this approach is particularly transformative. Working with experts who not only excel in their field but also know how to add a touch of fun and memorability – like the team at Rhode Sense – changes the game. It turns routine transactions into memorable experiences, fostering stronger relationships and smoother operations. At Rhode Sense, we live by the motto "WHERE THERE'S A ROAD, WE'LL FIND A WAY." But let's not forget: the journey is just as important as the destination. Let's make our business interactions not just successful, but also fun and unforgettable. #BusinessSuccess #FunInBusiness #Logistics #RyanGosling #Oscars #RHODESENSE #Networking

London, here I come! It's been a few weeks since my first in person team workshop in a long while. Now I'm heading back to share my findings after diving deep with the team's chosen customer segments. Then the very next day I'm running my next team workshop for another exciting subscription brand who want to get up close with their ideal customers. I would say no rest for the wicked, but the pain au chocolat is as wicked as I get. Newquay airport is the best IMO!

Professional Speaker and Advisor | Award-Winning Podcast Host | Hitchhiking Rabbi | Vistage Speaker | Create a culture of ethics that earns trust, sparks initiative, and limits liability
I was excited for the opportunity to fly to San Diego to speak to two groups of CEOs about creating a business culture of loyalty and commitment built on a foundation of ethics. The programs, part of Vistage Worldwide, Inc., were well-received and a pleasure to present. The experience getting there was… less wonderful. I booked my flight through Phoenix. But it was stormy, and the connecting flight was delayed. So I rebooked through Chicago. And that connection was delayed. So I booked a flight for the next morning and the Vistage Chair, Steven Smith, graciously moved my program from morning to afternoon. I would spend the night in Chicago with friends. My flight leaving St. Louis ended up delayed as well. Apparently, another plane was blocking ours, and it took an hour to find someone to tow the other plane out of our way. No storms the next morning. But just as we were about to take off, the flight crew noticed a torn piece of carpet in the aisle. So we waited half an hour for a repair crew to fix it, and another half an hour for them to process the paperwork to clear us for takeoff. I guess they’d never heard of duct tape. And that made me more than twelve hours late to pick up my rental car. Even though I called the day before to tell them my flight was delayed—and I had paid in advance—the rental car company still refused to honor my reservation and tried to charge me double for an upgrade. I’ll tell you more about that in the video, as well as the insanity I dealt with booking and rebooking my flight. Here’s the bottom line: 🥷There’s usually a reason why the cheapest vendors are the cheapest. 🥷Don’t risk nightmare incompetence to save a little money. 🥷Remember that you can’t be competent if you aren’t ethical, and vice versa. And, finally, remember that the formular for humor is pain plus time. Enjoy the story. And join me in being glad that we can laugh about it together in a world where so many can’t find cause for laughter at all. #ethics #accountability #culture #leadership #customerservice

Phil Gaimon taking cycling into the mainstream hospitality industry. Guest experience value add ✔️ Brand partnerships value add ✔️ Targeted new customer acquisition ✔️ Seeing Fairmont Hotels & Resorts take this approach begs the question: Why aren't there more cycling brand and hospitality industry partnerships and collaborations of this kind? And it doesn't have to be all about the lycra (sorry Phil). Ebikes present a golden opportunity, enabling guests to explore holiday destinations in a way that a bus or walking tour simply can't: - Vineyards and local foodie destinations. - Cultural and heritage sites. - Coastal views and countryside vistas. All are more engaging, immersive, memorable experiences when shared on two wheels. Critically, 'made possible by ebikes' is a holiday experience presented to an audience many of whom won't / don't (yet) call themselves 'cyclists'. 1) A golden opportunity to engage people who could become future customers of a cycling industry keen to wow and woo a new mobility audience. 2) An audience that sees mainstream media talking about an ebike as a great car replacement option for the right journey type: Local travel. 3) A travel and tourism opportunity which tracks a major societal and environmental shift towards micromobility and EV (on 2 wheels, or 4) How better to showcase this to prospective customers than in dream destinations, as part of truly memorable holiday experiences? #travelandtourism #brandpartnerships #experientialmarketing #cyclingindustry #globalbusiness #hospitalityindustry #hospitalitytourism #sportsindustry #sportsbusiness #customerexperience #communitybuilding #brandexperience #sharedexperiences #immersiveexperiences #uniqueoppotunities #cycling #activetravel #marketing #audiencedevelopment #audienceengagement #newcustomers

What does it feel like to be the only person in the world to have achieved a given result? On stage 5 of the Tour de France 2024, Mark Cavendish, riding with team Astana Qazaqstan, achieved his 35th stage win. Remarkable. Even astonishing. Last year, Netflix released a documentary about Mark’s cycling career - Never Enough - and three things really stood out to me from the film: 1. Mark is an incredibly driven person. 2. Mark’s partner is incredibly supportive. 3. Mark has had an incredible entourage of mentors and team members who all came around to support him. Incredible. Not least because most of the cycling community had written him off, following a history of crazy crashes and mental health issues. No drugs. No nasty team tactics. No cheat codes. He pulled himself back to victory with the intervention of the 3 factors listed above. A combination that has now made him a truly unique person. I have no idea what that must feel like. Do you? My school friend, Ned Phillips, recently ran 100 miles to reach the start of a 5km race. Yes, you read that right. Another remarkable feat, and a little more down to earth than Mark’s achievements. But what about all the hidden achievements going on in the workplace place? Consider these scenarios: A. Implementing a product in an organization that has never used such a product before. B. Turning on organization around from falling sales to record revenue levels. C. Lifting an organization’s Glassdoor feedback score from a 2 to a 4. There are so many incredible achievements that individuals are striving for. That teams are striving for. That organizations are striving for. Imagine how motivating it might be for a leader to tell their team, “hey, if we do this, I’ll get us into the [insert your favorite public award program here]. What public award are you going to achieve for your team this year? P.S. Everyone loves the opportunity to dress up in a tuxedo, or a little black dress. P.P.S. If you are wondering where, when, how, and why I write these posts, I’m currently sitting in a Delta lounge at JFK, heading to the UK, on July 4th, to celebrate Britain’s independence from the USA. We were never going to achieve the greatness that the USA has. #1 in the world. Happy 4th July. Happy Independence Day.

🗼Imagine dedicating eight years of your life, 706,900 matchsticks, and 23kg of glue to craft a 7.19m Eiffel Tower model, only to find out you've used the wrong kind of matchsticks. That's exactly what happened to Richard Plaud, a French model-enthusiast from Montpellier-de-Médillan. His dream to set a world record crumbled not because of a lack of dedication or precision, but due to a detail as small yet significant as the type of matchstick used. 📌 Lessons for Executive Assistants: ✔Details matter: Just like the "wrong kind of matchsticks" spoiled Richard's record attempt, overlooking small details can derail big projects. Always sweat the small stuff. ✔Verify requirements early: Don't wait until the end to check if you're meeting all criteria. Regularly verify requirements to avoid last-minute surprises. ✔Innovation vs. rules: Richard thought he found a clever workaround by using sulphur-less matches to avoid tedious work. Innovations can make processes more efficient, but ensure they don't conflict with established rules or expectations. ✔Documentation is key: Keep detailed records of your work and decisions. This helps in validating efforts and can be crucial if guidelines or goals shift. ✔Resilience is crucial: Despite the setback, Richard's story is a testament to perseverance. While not every effort will earn a Guinness World Record, every attempt teaches us something valuable. Richard's towering ambition might have faced a setback, but his story is a beacon of resilience, creativity, and the importance of attention to detail. Let's take these lessons into our workweek, ensuring that no detail is too small, and no rule is overlooked in our quest for excellence. #ExecutiveAssistance #AttentionToDetail #Resilience #Innovation #todayspa
