Interesting read - from OECD report “1) The New Zealand School System should remain devolved 2) Implementation of education policy should be reformed by: - providing more central and regional support to help schools, school boards, principals and teachers put policy into action - strengthening horizontal ties between actors to help better spread best practice.”

The path to a good #job will continue to cut right through a #college campus, according to research from the Georgetown University Center on Education and the Workforce. CEW predicts substantially more good jobs will be available in 2031, along with demand for more #education. For people in #poverty, a #bachelors #degree in a strong major offers the highest likelihood for landing one of these solid jobs.

The Paradox of School Education: A Call for Comprehensive Reforms Recent discussions have highlighted a striking paradox in our education system: government schools often attract the best teachers, yet private schools frequently produce the best outcomes. How can this be? The key lies in management. Superior management in private schools maximizes the potential of available resources, even when those resources may not be the best. In contrast, government schools, despite having top-tier teachers, may suffer from systemic inefficiencies. This brings us to a crucial question: Shouldn't our future generations deserve both superior machinery and superior management? It's time for a complete overhaul of our education industry if we aim to be global leaders. Investing in both top-quality resources and effective management practices can bridge the gap and ensure that every student, regardless of their school type, receives the best possible education. Let’s advocate for change and work together to create a world-class education system for our children. #EducationReform #FutureLeaders #QualityEducation #ManagementMatters #School #education #educationpolicy #studentsuccess #educators #educationleadership #india #schooleducation #publiceducation --- This post is aimed to engage professional network in a thoughtful discussion.

The Good Jobs Report is out - learning via #highereducation will continue to matter as will continual upskilling: “Even against a backdrop of economic uncertainty—driven by high inflation and interest rates, generative AI, international conflicts, changing demographics, and a shifting policy environment—the future of good jobs in the US looks promising. Economic opportunity will increasingly favor workers with higher levels of education and training.”

Last Friday Jobs report for the US came out at 3.7%, which is still tight. But, when looking into the breakdown of the Jobs report by educational attainment, an interesting fact stands out (does not surprise me though): UR by educational attainment as of Dec 23: 1. Less than a high school diploma: 6.0% 2. High school graduates, no college: 4.2% 3. Some college or associate degree: 3.1% 4. Bachelor's degree and higher: 2.1% The correlation is clear, the more educated you are, the less time you spend without a job. If you look at these, it seems clear to me how governments can tackle income inequality issue in societies, right? why not reinforcing the educational system and stop making educated individuals paying for people in point 1? #macroeconomics #incomeinequality

In 2023, I was new to the Cambridge curriculum and had the opportunity to teach the Global Perspectives subject, which emphasizes exploring significant global issues from various viewpoints. In India, I noticed a high demand for teachers in this subject, reflecting the economic principle of supply and demand. When supply is low and demand is high, prices typically increase. Global Perspectives teachers are in great demand in India, yet many schools struggle to find qualified teachers for the subject. Therefore, every teacher assigned to or choosing to teach Global Perspectives should advocate for a well-deserved pay raise. Do share this post with your fellow educators as it will be really helpful in their career. #globalperspectives #cambridge #education

Workplace Consultant | Creating Workplaces That Work | I uncover the root cause of productivity barriers so teams and businesses flourish | Founder, The Purpose Walk
"There is a projected global teacher shortage of almost 70 million teachers by 2030. As many as 70 percent of 10-year-olds in low- and middle-income economies can’t read and understand a basic text, over 244 million children and youth are out of school" ~ The Brookings Institution We have failed a noble profession! And while causation is multi-pronged, the education sector just about needs a revolution. The UN has called for making it a global imperative to resolve the drain on the profession as teachers exit disappointed by being overworked, underpaid and undervalued. Remember teachers' heroic pandemic efforts to reach students remotely and ensure learning (and a sense of normalcy) continued??? Many were the stories of teachers forming graduation convoys to help students have a touch of tradition as many exited high school with a huge change to the traditional graduation pomp and ceremony. I find myself worried about what students' literacy decline could mean for their career prospects down the road. And the talent challenges/shortfall for employers. And micro and macroeconomic implications of so many potentially under-earning, and being financially more strapped. Possibly. Here's an opportunity for nations to work creatively and collaboratively on solving a challenge that isn't mindful of borders. #FutureOfWork #TeacherShortage #EducationReform #leadership
