The problem that most tech companies / products have nowadays is to be able to iterate on solutions that match real user problems. Seems simple but its rather a process that most companies and mostly start-ups fail. They simply don't know how to do proper discovery, conduct User Interviews or simply conduct experiments. The consequence is real and leads to spend large amounts of money in development time for features that Users simply don't want or don't move the needle. Think about this: - How many PM's you know that simply don't know how to launch an experiment and simply adhere to the mantra of testing everything? - How many PM's you know that put users designing solutions instead of exploring real pain points or user problems? - How many PM's you that suffer from confirmation bias and just fall in love with a solution? - For example as a PM do you know what statistical significance means and what is its main purpose? The truth is that I learned most of this with the awesome Product Insights team at Spotify. If you have these kind of problems in your company / start up / scale up, don't miss out on the opportunity to hire someone that could help you solve these problems.
