When I signed up for the HubSpot Academy's Community Building Bootcamp at the start of the year, I didn't know what to expect. Now, 2 weeks in, I'm sure it was the best decision! 😊
I've already learnt so much in the first 2 weeks. I love that the curriculum is nudging me to reassess some core elements of my community and how it functions. I've also gotten theoretical validation for some initiatives that I've already set up in my community (yay!).
Here are my key takeaways from Weeks 1 and 2:
1️⃣ As it grows, try not to lose sight of your community's "WHY" - Why did you decide to build this connection point for your clients? And what makes you / your brand the best place for this connection?
2️⃣ In a successful community, the conversations cannot be unidirectional. Commmunity members need to be actively involved in the value creation process
3️⃣ Advocacy breeds more community engagement. Community members feel energized and inspired to keep going when they see evidence of others who have successfully achieved the goals they've set for themselves. “To sell the journey, showcase what will become”
4️⃣ Connecting your CRM and community can give you key insights into how your community is influencing or can influence your client's journey with your product/brand. For instance, is asking questions, attending events, and learning from community content accelerating their progress towards key milestones?
5️⃣ Community can help support marketing goals (ex: content distribution), sales goals (ex: upsells to offerings that support your main product), and customer service goals (ex: retention, testimonials)

This is critical to growing your business and connecting in a B2B segment.

I recently wrapped up my 6-week Hubspot Super Admin Bootcamp and what an exciting experience it was!
From diving into advanced portal management strategies to discovering hidden gems within HubSpot, it was crazy how much knowledge and expertise was shared during such a short time.
Some of my favorite highlights include:
🏹 Actionable assignments: We didn't just learn theories, but we also got to put them to use, sometimes even on the spot! Data cleaning, user management, security settings review, you name it.
💡 The spontaneous tips. Shoutout to George B. Thomas for dropping wisdom nuggets left and right. I did not know how much I wanted Tick-Tock-Today until I learned about it.
🦁 The awesome community. Connecting with fellow orange-blooded professionals was a highlight! It didn't help with my imposter syndrome but I'm still glad I got to learn so much from the shared experiences and brainstorming sessions.

Community = human connection = the most natural thing in the world... right?
Well, yes. But also no.
So far I've been confronted by the fact I know nothing about community building. And that's totally okay. 😅
I always thought community building should be done organically, as a result of your business vision and values. But in reality, it needs its own strategy, it needs boundaries, it needs to be guided by an admin and it needs a separate vision to your business.
Thanks to Nurit Aizenstros, Ricardo Molina and Nick Lafakis for the past few weeks, excited to keep learning! For anyone considering the bootcamp, these guys know their sh*t.
