Soft skills training is the gift that keeps on giving!

Learn, learn, and learn some more. 📚📖 I recently completed the LinkedIn Learning Professional Soft Skills learning pathway, delving into topics like emotional intelligence, effective listening, teamwork, banishing your inner critic, communication foundations, and more.The instructors did an excellent job, explaining concepts in a practical manner. These modules were incredibly informative, and I've already started applying the insights both at work and in my daily life. I found the modules on emotional intelligence and communication foundations particularly insightful as they resonate across various aspects of life. On a side note, Robert Kiyosaki, in his book "Rich Dad's Cashflow Quadrant," suggests that financial intelligence is closely linked to emotional intelligence. If you aim to manage your hard-earned money effectively, consider growing your emotional intelligence. (The book is a great read, by the way—do consider looking it up.) This learning journey has not only helped me identify and refine my strengths but also address my weaknesses, providing the tools for improvement. I'm definitely singing praises for this pathway – it's not just a workplace refresher but a golden opportunity for self-assessment. I would definitely recommend it. Regardless of your field, soft skills are indispensable. Next on the agenda: immersing myself in the world of AI. Effective learning tips

I’ve been spending quite some time since joining Skillable, thinking about how to articulate the value of education that sticks, resonates and causes meaningful change in the workplace. In my opinion, we as an industry are over-indexing the top half of Edgar Dale’s pyramid because it is comfortable, familiar and standard practice. The bottom half however, requires real effort, forcing yourself to become uncomfortable, to make mistakes and this is where the real learning and unlearning exists. The top half, ironically, builds the foundation, the bottom half creates the change. The question becomes, why do organizations continue to persist with the old guard methods of education? In many ways, it feels like politics. We all know the system is broken but it seems too hard to change. We are stuck with it; yet we are not. I believe there are four steps to unlocking more effective, translatable performance in the workplace: 1️⃣ Agreeing to the path: Mentally committing to the learning journey, its varying components and readying yourself for failure along the way. 2️⃣ Self-Awareness: Where am I in my learning journey? What is comfortable? What am I dreading and how can I soften the discomfort of change through learning. 3️⃣ Repetition: Learning and growth are compounded through getting reps in. There is no avoiding this, nor will there be until the robots take over 😉 4️⃣ Teaching: Once you have mastered a skill, don’t safeguard it in institutional silence. Share it. Teach. Be in service of others as it will reinforce the learning and give you a free serotonin high. Flip the pyramid. #change #discomfort #repetition #learning #skillable

Facilitators can significantly boost application! After hours of crunching data through regression analyses, I stumbled upon a fascinating discovery. When it comes to professional learning, the presence of a facilitator emerges as the single most impactful factor, even trumping design, practice, and content! My results: ~61.1% of the variation in participants' intention to apply for opportunities stemmed from having a facilitator present. This signifies a moderately strong positive relationship. Even after considering other variables, the facilitator variable remained the champion, with an adjusted R-squared of 57.2%. This highlights the unique contribution facilitators make compared to other aspects of professional learning. My takeaway Facilitators are the game-changers in professional learning. Their guidance, support, and expertise can significantly boost application rates and ultimately lead to greater career advancement. This finding begs the question: How can we leverage the power and expertise of facilitators to make professional learning even more impactful?
