UN Secretary-General António Guterres addressed the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit, highlighting the urgent need for action on #Sustainability and #Development.  He emphasized the existential threat of #ClimateChange and called for ambitious measures, including reducing #GreenhouseGasEmissions, increasing #RenewableEnergy capacity, and phasing out coal by 2040.  Guterres also stressed the importance of substantial financial support for climate initiatives. Data #transparency through #decentralized digital networks stands as technology's most potent weapon against inefficiencies and their associated challenges. Achieving #sustainable development amidst global climate change is a #wicked problem, an aggregator of global inefficiencies. My speech from 2020 seems a bit naive, yet somewhat still valid. https://lnkd.in/drvguJvk I am biased towards #openinnovation, and open innovation thrives on a foundation of clearly defined human needs. Breaking down #SDGs so they are biteable relatable challenges instead of macro ones like "ending hunger", a global #marketplace of already validated SDG solutions from different regions, and a decentralized network to currate all efforts with auto impact measurement process might help.

Greetings from Davos! We’re already off to a great start here, discussing everything from geopolitical instability to ways we can steward a just and inclusive energy transition. The main theme of Davos this year is ‘Collaboration for the Intelligent Age’ - and the focus on collaboration is really key. Not just because we’re living in an increasingly fragmented world, but because we live in an unsettled climate due to our ecological crisis. It’s at this very cross-section, where we also have the rise of AI, that we must come together to work through our global challenges. AI presents a unique opportunity, as tech developments could unlock new climate solutions and drive breakthroughs at the unparalleled speed we need - but we must join forces to steer it in the right direction. The latest Global Cooperation Barometer report that the World Economic Forum released shows that we still have cooperation pockets, despite increasing divisions. So now’s the time to double down on global solidarity. We won’t be able to transform our global economy into one that is sustainable and nature-positive if we don’t collaborate. I still have the week ahead here, where I will be part of numerous panels, talks and gatherings with world leaders to talk about these very issues.
