Co-Owner at The Chamberson Hotel

As a Dunedin business owner, I’ve been dealing with AURORA ENERGY on their scheduled power outages & can only describe their behaviour as “corporate thuggery” - with no customer service & no customer engagement! Below is a summary of my dealings with AURORA ENERGY: In February we encountered a scheduled power outage due to a $500million upgrade that AURORA ENERGY was making to the power network As a result our hotel guests had no power & we encountered negative social media reviews & had to compensate guests for a “less than ideal stay” with us I contacted AURORA ENERGY to express our concerns & was advised of another power outage on 22 April. We “put on record” our opposition to this power outage & requested a temporary power option to mitigate disruption to our business AURORA ENERGY advised they would not provide a temporary power generator as they had not budgeted for this in the project scope Although I understand that network maintenance needs to done, I believe when power outages are scheduled there MUST be a responsibility on the company doing the maintenance to provide alternative power solutions to businesses that are impacted Perhaps new ownership will bring better corporate accountability, with a customer focus
