At the most recent @Petrocultures 2024 conference, which took place at the University of Southern California (@uscedu) in #LosAngeles, Dr. Asma Mehan led a panel and presented a paper. Scholars, academics, and practitioners from all around the world gathered for this international conference, which took place from May 15–18, 2024, to talk about the future of energy and its cultural ramifications. The panel, titled “After Oil: Re-envisioning a Post Fossil-Fuel Future and Industrial Heritage,” featured panelists including Sina Mostafavi, Ph.D., Zachary S. CaseyTexas Tech University Huckabee College of Architecture Texas Tech University, as well as Taraneh Meshkani, Kent State University. 🔔 We're excited to announce that my research paper, titled "Quantifying Carbon Emissions from Excavation and Embankment Activities in Road Construction," has been published in the SINERGI Journal. This study sheds light on the carbon emissions generated during cut and fill operations, with a key focus on the dominant role of material transportation in road construction. The findings emphasize the importance of adopting sustainable construction practices to reduce the carbon footprint of infrastructure projects. Waldo Galle has been working for VITO since 2018.
