Despite the increasing use of artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare delivery, physicians and other healthcare providers should be wary of presumed legal protections. In a recent Federation of State Medical Boards report, the onus physicians remain liable for patient harm and ultimately responsible for patient outcomes, even if AI protocols directed physicians to exercise a plan of care that resulted in the patient harm.
