The use of winter salts has increased over the past decade during winter weather for safer roadways, parking lots, and sidewalks. However, excessive salt application can damage infrastructure, pollute waterways in our environment, and pose threats to human health. This training program aims to provide a voluntary, statewide winter salt certification for private applicators that balances safety during winter weather months while minimizing salt application, improving application methods and your bottom line, and reducing contamination in the environment.
The target audience includes property managers, business owners, landscaping companies, and private contractors/salt applicators interested in learning effective ice melting strategies that protect the environment while also maintaining profitability and meeting customer safety expectations.
