Infrastructure investment drives national and local economic growth, shapes sustainable communities, and provides skills and jobs across the country. Improving the pathway for project delivery to unlock these benefits will undoubtedly be a top priority for any future government, and today Balfour Beatty plc - alongside 12 of the UK’s largest construction and infrastructure companies, including AtkinsRéalis - have put forward a Blueprint for Growth to support that aim. This joint Blueprint sets out recommendations to create the best conditions for infrastructure delivery, from stability and certainty in infrastructure policy to streamlining consenting processes and measures that will strengthen skills and capability across the supply chain. It also represents a collective commitment from our industry to collaborate and help to pick up the pace of delivery and drive sustainable economic growth across the UK. Could I add ‘depoliticise education’ Richard? That way, more schools could offer extraordinary insight into our incredible industry through an applied curriculum, backed by folks like those at AtkinsRéalis, eh John Haylett BSc (Hons) NECReg ? Dan Heffernan? (Thank you for all you do)

4moI wish there would have been a 13th.... 'mandate a single social impact evaluation method' and this would use Greenbook and PPN, would be free to use, apply transparent methods, and focus on total life cycle and not just procurement. It would be underpinned by an industry taskforce who capture and share good practice at scale. It would value quality outcomes. Thing is.... that is actually not difficult to do with the political will and engagement with the right people.
