📡 Friday Morning MWC musings 📡 Two weeks on from the Mobile World Congress I’ve been reflecting on what I saw and took away from this year’s event. 1.Every industry Wenham Carter serves is now represented at MWC – from mobility to health, heavy industry to manufacturing. This wasn’t the case even a few years back. The convergence of industries is a reminder of how core connectivity is to progress across all areas of tech and science. 2.Of all the applications of gen AI presented and discussed this year, Ameca the humanoid robot was the most memorable…and thought-provoking. I watched it field questions from a group of 50 people, identifying and engaging with everyone individually. At one point, over the cacophony of voices and general melee, it casually observed that someone had turned the ambient music up. Mind blown. (This didn’t even raise an eyebrow in our AI and Robotics team). 3. After a drop in attendance post-pandemic, it’s great to see MWC bigger and better than ever. This year’s congress hammered home what an incredible time it is to be working across our industries, and the power of human connection in driving progress. Here’s Ameca doing ..its(?)…thing. #WenhamCarter #MWC #TelecomsJobs #GenAI #5G #Robotics

The curtains came down on this year's MWC2024 - the biggest technology and telecom exhibition in the world! As expected #AI dominanted the keynote sessions and client conversations from unique use cases to RoI on 5G deployments embedding AI. Industry is at the ripe stage to collaborate across the value-chain, it's clear that no one player alone can win in the AI world - many collaborations & partnerships among operators, equipment vendors, semiconductor players and services players were forged. Besides innovation in technology and services, it was the innovative business models that's piquing my interest. A lot of cool gadgets with AI were also unveiled at this year's Congress. From flying cars to humanoid to controlling phone with your eyes 👀 yesss! After a long time exciting new form factors were unveiled - folding phones to beautiful rings, transparent laptop using micro-LED technology - check out the video to know more! #innovation #techcollab #telecoms https://lnkd.in/gwgiZgWw

Looking Back at the Show of the Future: Reflections on #mwc24 The week I took off after the #mwc24 show in Barcelona was sufficient for the excitement to subside and reflections to form – I’m keen on sharing some here. The first one: it’s amazing how the event has evolved since I first attended, then still in Cannes: its mobile technology focus shifted significantly to ecosystem play, societal aspects and clearly, business, which is reflected in #GSMA statistics: of the more than 101,000 unique attendees, over 59% came from industries adjacent to the mobile core ecosystem. Which brings me back to a point I raised before – the relevance of #telcos in today’s world is not reflected in their financial outlook (if only telcos could retain their consumer revenues while growing the B2B part to over 50% …). In terms of trends and hype, the initial promise of #5g gave way to a more somber reality, while #ai was everywhere (heyday for marketers and their slogan creativity). All the impressive demos showcased how AI can help improve user experience and generate incremental revenues, simplify operations, reduce costs, make networks more resilient and easier to run, how it is permeating every aspect of business and our lives to enhance it. Yet, those were demos based on curated data sets (if any) and limited (if any) integration with other essential systems. Given that data is the foundation of #GenAI, and typically, integration work reflects the mounting #techdebt , significant effort will be required to drive commercial adoption of all those use cases. Personally, I am curious to see which of them will ‘make it’ when #mwc25 opens its doors – maybe a suboptimal question at a show renown for its focus on future rather than checkpoints. Initiatives such as Global Telco AI Alliance (#GTAA) will certainly have a positive impact. So will the relentless efforts by experts across multiple disciplines. Which makes me proud that we at Singtel, NCS Group and #telcoplus keep working hard on paving the way for #AI to evolve from hype to productive reality.

🌟 Day 1 at MWC 2024: A Glimpse into the Future 🌟 As the sun sets on the first day of the Mobile World Congress 2024, I am left invigorated by a day rich in connections, learning, and visionary discussions. My day commenced at our #iotsquared booth, part of the #stc exhibit, where I learned a lot about what #stc is doing in terms of emerging technologies. Then my journey took me through a series of enlightening sessions. The "Quantum Industry" session opened my eyes to the astounding potential of quantum computing in reshaping our digital landscape. At the "Smart Mobility Summit," I delved into the future of the connected living ecosystem in a car context and finally i attend a session in "Beyond series A: Unraveling the Secret of Business Models for Fundraising," I gained valuable insights into the intricacies of creating robust business models, essential for securing funding in today's competitive landscape. In between these sessions, I connected with partners, colleagues, and i visited a couple of booths mainly related to AI technology, including software solutions and AI chip advancements. One of the most stimulating discussions was about the future of smart cities and mobility, imagining how these emerging technologies will redefine our everyday lives. Please visit us in #stc Hall 3 stand 3M29 to discover our full fledged solutions. As I look forward to Day 2, I am excited about the new knowledge and connections that await. #stc #iotsquared #MWC2024 #SmartCities #AI #Innovation #Connectivity #QuantumComputing #SmartMobility #TechFunding

I can’t believe Mobile World Congress in Barcelona was already one month ago. Time is flying so fast when you have fun 😉 If you were not lucky enough to have tapas in Barcelona earlier this month – do not hesitate to have a look on our article here (https://lnkd.in/e9TBQ-vD), listing highlights and trends! * Monetise 5G via Private Networks & Industry 4.0 was one of the key stakes of this edition. Bringing here the initial step of the process with the network planning will definitely keep us involved in many projects. * AI and paving the way of the coming 6G was also central on the trends this year. I enjoyed how Faouzi Bader and Randall René, MBA both explain (videos https://lnkd.in/eHPaWKWW and https://lnkd.in/ehYje2Qx) with their own angle how automation and Telecom Digital Twin will allow to address that. * Seeing that sustainability and carbon neutrality is now also placed in the heart of telecom player strategy is definitely a stake where we want to be involved. Let’s now address all these challenges with our partners and customers !

As I had the chance to visit MWC24, I'd like to share some thoughts. Gen AI dominated the discourse at this year's MWC, and for good reason. What was once merely a buzzword has now transformed into tangible applications ready for market deployment. Walking through the aisles, it was evident that every vendor had centred their exhibits and communications around this transformative technology. But MWC isn't just about showcasing the latest hardware releases. While some devices had been unveiled prior to the event, what truly stood out were the incremental improvements in smartphone specifications, promising an enhanced user experience with each iteration. From advanced chipsets to cutting-edge camera specs, manufacturers further try to elevate customer satisfaction. Notably, challenger brands are leading the charge in democratizing these innovations, catering to price-sensitive consumers without compromising on quality. Amidst discussions about the relevance of trade shows in the digital age, MWC proved its enduring significance. Despite the availability of digital platforms, the bustling halls of Barcelona reaffirmed the irreplaceable value of face-to-face interactions. From uncovering unexpected concepts to forging invaluable business connections, MWC remains unparalleled in its ability to provide a holistic view of industry trends and foster meaningful networking opportunities. In essence, MWC transcends its status as a mere trade show; it's a convergence of visionaries, innovators, and industry leaders, shaping the future of technology one groundbreaking idea at a time. #gfk #MWC #Innovation #NetworkingOpportunities
