A short story with a great outcome on why people relationships matter. Relationships with people are my "why" for what makes work meaningful for me. I've always been a big believer in building strong relationships with the people I work with, and also the people whose paths I cross with in various ways both big and small. When I look back on my career, I can attribute each stop along the journey and my favorite work experiences to one or more of these relationships. I will always remember taking a reference call in January 2020 with Dini M. when she was making her first SC hire at Lattice. That 5 minute call quickly turned into 30 minutes, I remember thinking to myself after we wrapped -- "we're going to work together one day." And sure enough we did when I joined Lattice in late 2021 to lead & scale the Solutions Consulting organization. My experience during my time there will always be a highlight of my career and I grew considerably as a 2nd line people leader with new skills that I'll carry with me for the remainder of my career. More recently, earlier this summer I made the decision to get back to my passion, which is leading pre-sales SE/SC teams. One of the first people I connected with was Katie Meyer, who I met 3 years earlier when she was leading the SC team at Outreach. Although I landed at Lattice, we stayed in touch along the way - I've always admired her leadership style. As luck and good timing would have it, she was beginning the hiring process for an SE leader in North America at HiBob, which is now my new home leading the North America SE team. Although I'm just getting started, I'm excited for the journey ahead to help build a world-class SE organization with some truly world-class people. More to come and lots to look forward to, but today I find myself reflecting on the importance of relationships and the impact they've had on my life and my career. #peopleleadership #relationshipsmatter

Proud moment right here. 😁 Yesterday I treated one of my best clients to lunch to celebrate a mutually successful 2023 with the entire team. I've known Joe Lapi since 2012-ish from back in my carrier days, and the opportunity to be working together again in this new capacity has been so much fun. We started counting yesterday and realized that 20% of their team has come thru me! 👇 Commercial. Personal. Employee Benefits. Sales and Service.... Sometimes the best opportunities are the ones you weren't expecting. When I joined Assistantly, I was scared of what was next for me. I had loved my time working in tech and the thought of leaving that behind for a new role and new industry was scary. I hopped on a call with Laith Masarweh after week one and he was asking how was feeling and if I was 100% bought in and committed. I was honest with him. I said I would be lying if I said yes - I needed more time and exposure the the industry and what my new role will look like to make that decision. Coming up on 6 weeks and I can confidently say that I am 100% bought in. The people. The passion. The growth. 🌟📚 Grateful for this unplanned sabbatical! Taking time to reflect on my journey. Days filled with reminiscing, gratitude, and devouring books. Currently diving into #Nearbound and "The Who Economy" by Jared Fuller Inspired by Nearbound's focus on trusted relationships, I'll be sharing my last three years' journey and how I ventured into partnerships and WHO supported me along the way. Quick backstory: August 2019, clueless about SaaS, channels, or partnerships. Background in risk management and finance. Met my soulmate, relocated to Tampa on a whim. Job search was not going as planned until an opportunity at Pipedrive came along. Started as Manager of Support Experts & launching the St Pete, FL office, huge thanks to Ana Silvério Rodrigues Margarida (Maggie) R., Rafael Pereira and André Carvalho for opening the door! There would not be a story without YOU. They saw my potential beyond keywords on a resume. Recruiters/Hiring Managers, take note: manual effort > AI in hiring decisions. Happy to elaborate in future posts! Noticed lack of alignment & understanding between support and channel team. Got curious on ways to bridge the gap. Two years of observing and diving in later, I aimed for a role in the channel team. Enter Patrick Pahl former VP of Channel Sales & Partnerships. I had applied for Channel Sales Manager, knew I didn't meet all the qualifications, didn't land it, but got something say better for me. At FERMÀT, we've grown our team by 30% in just 1 month. Some of our new hires are already solving some of our biggest pain points. A new salesperson identified Commerce Tools as a critical platform for our upmarket strategy, something we'd overlooked due to bad data. Huge. An account manager revamped our complex pricing structure in under 4 weeks—a task we'd been working on for months. Managers who not invest in people with the right soft skills but no experience, are losing the chance to get wonderful employees, with fresh perspectives and innovative ideas. Embracing talent regardless of experience can lead to diverse skill sets, enhanced collaboration, and ultimately, long-term success for the organization.   While the desire for candidates who can hit the ground running is prevalent, overlooking those without experience may be a missed opportunity , we need to be aware that a job can be learned, of course, providing  proper training, mentorship, and support; and this is “job” that certain managers do not want to execute.   A true leader take the chance knowing that can cultivate a pipeline of talent that not only meets immediate needs but also grows and evolves with the company, ultimately driving innovation and sustainability.   I hire colleagues with no experience, what about you? 

Remember what it was like to be new? Throwback to my second sales conference ever (no photographic evidence of me dressed as an astronaut from the first time!) They were always fancy dress and fun! But, as a Graduate, it was a bit of a social and professional minefield. I lived in fear of doing or saying the wrong thing. I’d forgotten I'd felt like that. As we progress in our careers, especially when we become experienced managers, we can forget what it’s like to be new and figuring out a new team, new manager, new culture. Even if someone has moved within the organisation, there’s a lot to navigate.
