As an indie filmmaker, I've come to realize that the challenges we face in bringing our films to market are a unique blend of external and internal factors. Many obstacles are beyond our immediate control, but it's equally important to recognize the internal barriers we may impose on ourselves. Changing traditional entertainment industry practices to ensure more accessibility, funding equity, and a platform for untold stories is undoubtedly a noble pursuit. It's a fight for a more inclusive and diverse cinematic landscape. However, as we navigate this path, I find myself questioning whether the dream of seeing our stories on the big screen is the ultimate goal or merely a distraction. Are the values upheld by the traditional entertainment industry truly reflective of our own values as independent creators? The struggle to reshape industry norms can be a lengthy battle, and while it's essential to advocate for change, we must also be mindful of staying true to our unique voices and perspectives. Perhaps there's an alternative path—one where we redefine success on our terms, outside the confines of conventional measures. Let's continue pushing for industry reform, but let's also celebrate the power we have as independent creators to shape our narratives on platforms that align with our values. The journey is ongoing, and the destination might just be a reflection of the authentic stories we tell, rather than conforming to predefined notions of success. Join me at indikin.com as we address the challenges together and build for a brighter future. #IndieFilm #FilmmakerPerspective #RedefiningSuccess #StorytellingJourney

🎥 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗿𝘂𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗯𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗨𝗻𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗟𝗮𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗵 𝗼𝗳 𝗟𝗲𝘀 (𝗙𝗮𝗺𝗲𝘂𝘅) 𝗚𝗮𝗿𝘀 🚀 When I launched my first feature film, 𝙇𝙚𝙨 (𝙁𝙖𝙢𝙚𝙪𝙭) 𝙂𝙖𝙧𝙨, traditional French distributors weren’t interested. Instead of giving up, I embraced an independent distribution strategy that took the industry by surprise. Here’s how I did it: • 𝗩𝗢𝗗 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵: We released the film on platforms like Universcine, Vimeo, and Dailymotion. In the first 24 hours, we achieved over 150,000 paid views! 🎯 • 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮 𝗗𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: We relied entirely on social media, leveraging the fanbases of our actors (many of whom were well-known rappers) to spread the word. • 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗖𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗺𝗮 𝗦𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀: Using I Like Cinema, we allowed audiences to organize screenings in their cities. This led to over 50,000 tickets sold in just one week across 50 cinemas in France! 🍿 • 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Everyone involved, from the actors to the crew, played a role in promoting the film, making this a true grassroots effort. The results proved that independent films can thrive by taking risks and embracing non-traditional paths. Sometimes, disrupting the system is the only way forward. 🎬✨ Here's an article about my crazy distribution strategy in the French media: https://lnkd.in/ehRGJrRn Have you ever taken an unconventional approach in your projects? Let’s share stories! 👇 #filmmaking #distribution #innovation #cinema #indiefilm

Create an alternative to filmfreeway dot com As far as I can tell, there is one company dominating the business of film festival submissions. I am no programmer, but I'm pretty sure someone could create a competitor to this sloppy website. Innocent new filmmakers could easily be duped into spending a lot of money to "submit" their film to something that doesn't even exist. It's sloppy since anyone with ten minutes to spare and an internet connection can "create" a film festival on there in seconds. Check out the logo I just made with Copilot AI in a few minutes. Goodness, this logo is better than most on there, if I do say so myself. I am all for building on-ramps so that more people are making more films. I am not a fan of scams and yeah, I fell for a couple of these in the beginning of my filmmaking journey. I even told a story about it on a storytelling stage, recounting my surprise when the only people attending were a.)the guy who owned the projector b.)another innocent like myself and c.)a local actor who, guess what, won a bunch of prizes that night slash hosted the festival. I'll redact the name of that dumb "festival" and post the video on here sometime. Now that the future is upon us, would someone please create an alternative to filmfreeway.com? Or, am I missing something and does one exist already? . . . #filmfreeway #filmfestivals #scams #filmmakers #indiefilm #documentary

In the Indie Film Production world, casting actors without overspending is more than a necessity; it’s an art form. With limited budgets, indie filmmakers have innovated ways to attract talent and leverage their resources. Digital casting platforms like Casting Frontier and Backstage have revolutionized how filmmakers find their actors, allowing for global reach without the hefty price tag. This shift to digital also paved the way for virtual auditions, a godsend during the COVID-19 pandemic, saving even more on travel expenses. However, challenges persist. Tight schedules and financial constraints often mean indie filmmakers must think creatively to secure talent. Offering performance incentives or tapping into local talent are just some ways to overcome financial hurdles. For those looking to navigate these waters, here's some advice: Embrace digital casting and virtual auditions to widen your talent pool. Consider partnerships with casting networks to access a broader range of actors. And always be prepared. Adequate research and meticulous preparation can mean the difference between casting a gem and facing setbacks. Use this moment to innovate, and let these strategies guide your next film project to success without breaking the bank. #IndieFilm #DigitalCasting #FilmProduction #VirtualAuditions For more insights, go to www.kvibe.com

Helping SMEs stand out from the crowd with engaging video content campaigns. We help you differentiate and break free from the Noise.
It took me over 18 years to give myself permission to make this film. I used to believe that I needed a big budget or the approval of a broadcaster before I could create anything. Like any diligent filmmaker, I followed the traditional path: developing pitch decks, pleading with producers and studios to give my project a chance. While I acted like an inventor whose idea never took flight, the world around me was rapidly evolving—social media, Cintiq tablets, iPad drawing tools, YouTube, and now AI. These groundbreaking technologies have transformed the industry forever. Yet, my mindset remained stuck in the old model, seeking permission from studios or broadcasters to pursue what I felt was my purpose. So, I played by the rules once again, but this time I went all in. I developed a series pilot, toys, a children’s book, and even a game, preparing to pitch it all at MIPCOM, the largest media market in Europe, held in Cannes. It was amazing! I met countless producers and creators, networked over cocktails on the beach, and had meetings in beautiful restaurants. But what did I discover? If you want to break in with an independent idea, you need to already have an audience. It’s a paradox: if I have an audience, why would I need you? With that realisation, I returned to London and began creating. The challenge, though, is that building an audience through animation requires either time or money. If you’re young or have a bit of financial support, just start creating and growing your audience. Today, it’s the audience—and algorithms—that hold the real power. Give yourself permission, and you’ll find a way. Link to film:

🎬 Navigating the Hollywood Studio Slowdown: A Time for Reflection and Hope The Hollywood studio slowdown has undeniably impacted our industry, from delayed productions to shifts in content delivery. As challenging as this period has been for creatives, technicians, and all those behind the scenes, it also offers a unique opportunity for reflection and reinvention. The slowdown has highlighted the importance of adaptability, creativity, and resilience. It has given us time to rethink how stories are told, how content is distributed, and how the industry can evolve to meet the demands of a changing world. But more than anything, it has shown us the enduring power of storytelling. Even in the face of uncertainty, the desire to create, connect, and inspire remains as strong as ever. As we look to the future, I am hopeful. Hopeful that this pause will lead to new and diverse voices emerging, innovative ways of working together, and a renewed commitment to the art and craft of filmmaking. Hollywood has always been a place of dreams, and even in times of slowdown, those dreams continue to drive us forward. Here’s to a future where the stories we tell are more inclusive, more powerful, and more impactful than ever before. 🌟 #Hollywood #FilmIndustry #Creativity #Resilience #Storytelling #HopefulFuture #Film #Television

We have had a busy few weeks and have not had the time to keep you all updated but we will certainly be posting more regularly again. The big news is that following the announcement last month that Stephen had been nominated for an award at the 3rd Edition of Gaming and Animation Confex in Amsterdam, we can happily tell you all that he was actually awarded and of course we are so proud. Massive congratulations to Stephen and everyone else that was awarded. https://lnkd.in/esYHyDNj Ok, you all know the hard work we are putting in on our animated anthology series “Compendium”, but we thought you should know that we have been hard at work over the last year or so on a number of animated short films that are being entered into film festivals. So for the next few weeks we will be taking a look at some clips from our short film called “The Fade” and giving you a sneak peak of how this was put together and the drive behind it. This week we are highlighting a dream sequence that went though a number of iterations before Stephen went with this version. You will see later that it is unlike the style of the rest of the film and is almost bare lines. The reason for this was to create an almost "White Room" feel without being that literal but we think it does the trick and although very minimalist, it has an ethereal and dreamlike quality that ties in so well with the score. Let us know if you agree. In the meantime please like and share this post, stay creative and always be kind to each other, whatever the score in the football is. As ever, we will too. #Creativity #Art #Animation #Film #Music #Branding #Events #Streamingmedia #Amazon #Amazonprime #Mentalhealthmatters
