In our talk today Leni Rivera outlined the Chief Workplace Officer role and made a compelling argument for the need for such a role in an evolving workplace. It is clear that it needs to be its own vertical, separate from HR, IT, Legal and so on but work together with those functions within the C-suite in creating value to benefit organizations and employees. So why does this position not exist in corporate America today? Or does it exist, but just poorly defined? The CWO is an ambitious goal, a north star, and a step forward in the right direction to lead corporate functions focused on the physical workplace who currently find themselves split up across an organization whose leadership doesn’t have a clear understanding of what they do. Leaders, start by learning the different functions that make up the workplace industry so that you can unify these corporate functions within your organization and create an impactful workplace experience together. Workplace Experience is driven by the following corporate functions - Workplace Strategy, CRE, Interior Design, Project Management, Facility Management, Safety and Security, Workplace Services, Workplace Technology, Workplace Sustainability.
