How Snickers and Tide use a similar idea differently! We see ourselves as different from celebrities, sports stars, etc, Snickers uses this thought in their execution of the “you are not you, when you are hungry” Ads. A person turns into a celebrity who is angry and complaining due to hunger. Tide focuses on the similarities, by showcasing how the mighty can also have the same banal problems we have. Like ketchup or drinks spilling on clothes, things we don't imagine happening to the stars. When I saw the Tide Ad, I recalled when Kapil Sharma asked someone from the Bachchan family, do you also combine leftover soap with a new soap, and the audience burst out laughing. The idea that the Bachchan family would do something so middle class is preposterous to our mind. Which is why this ad catches attention. This is why we still stop to watch videos of Keanu Reeves in the subway, or Bollywood celebrities traveling in a auto. Deep down we desire to lower the gap between us, which happens by us raising ourselves, but happens far more easily when celebrities step down and behave like us. https://lnkd.in/gjAUcs_B #advertising #consumerbehavior #insights
