🎥✨ A Journey into Filmmaking ✨🎥 This semester, I took an elective course in Audio and Video, and it turned out to be one of the most rewarding experiences of my academic journey! As part of the course, we were assigned to create a silent short film—and I had the privilege of directing, editing, and even acting in it. The result? A lighthearted silent comedy titled "The Sweet Crime"🍰 The process was a roller coaster of creativity—from storyboarding and planning to shooting and performing. It taught me so much about storytelling without dialogue, the power of visuals, and the magic of editing. This experience has deepened my love for filmmaking. I’ve always been fascinated by films—ever since I was a kid, imagining stories and scenes in my head. This project reminded me how impactful visual narratives can be. Grateful for the opportunity to explore this passion, and who knows? This might just be the beginning of a new chapter in my creative journey. Would love to hear your thoughts or tips if you’ve worked on similar projects! 📽️ #Filmmaking #SilentFilm #StudentProject #CreativeJourney #Storytelling #AudioAndVideo

Stories hold immense power. Across the world, decisions shape new narratives daily. Filmmaking is the art of capturing these stories, making them vivid and relatable. While filming the 2024 graduation video at Chadwick International School , I continually pondered the story being told. What tales emerge from the graduates' laughter as they reminisce about their academic triumphs? What do the parents' tears convey as they embrace their children, now proud diploma holders? What story is imparted by the teacher offering final words of wisdom to their former students? This is why filmmaking is crucial. Without it, how can we preserve these stories? How do we remember the joyous moments, the challenges overcome, and the triumphs that might otherwise fade with time? Every school should embrace storytelling through filmmaking. #filmmaker #contentcreator #storytelling

Should You Get Started? Thinking about making a feature film, a short, or writing that screenplay? You might be sitting there, wondering if now is the right time. Here’s why you shouldn’t start: - Now’s not the right time. You’re too busy, right? - Filmmaking is a dying industry. Streaming is killing it, who even watches indie films anymore? - It’s too hard to make a career out of this. You’ll never “make it.” - You’re probably overthinking every little detail. - You’re imagining all the things that could go wrong. - You’re making it more complicated than it needs to be. The solution? “Only you know.” Frustrating, right? But here’s the truth: only you can decide when it’s time to move. There’s no perfect time—it’s always messy. As for the industry? Filmmaking is constantly changing, but stories are eternal. People will watch if you have something to say. And that career? Careers are made by starting, not waiting. So, if you feel ready, stop thinking about starting—and start starting. Here are 3 things you can do today to break the cycle of overthinking: - Set a timer for 30 minutes and write the first scene. Don’t stop. - Outline one sequence or idea. Just get it on paper. - Take a walk and think through your core story idea—no pressure, just clarity. Need some guidance? I’m offering 1-on-1 filmmaking coaching to help you cut through the noise. I have 5 spots left for November. https://lnkd.in/gnad72HS #filmmaking #screenwriting #indiefilm #creativity #coaching

If you’re a business looking to engage the future talent pipeline or a school that wants to empower its educators, contact Bucks Skills Hub at info@bucksskillshub.org to find out how to get involved in the teacher encounters scheme. A teacher encounter provides an opportunity for teachers to engage directly with employers to see and learn about the different career pathways relevant to their subjects, and to observe how their subject is applied practically in business. Teachers can then meaningfully use these insights to enrich their curriculum teaching, helping their students build a deeper understanding of opportunities, connections between learning and industry, and the essential skills that need to be honed for different roles. As an employer, offering teacher encounters supports deeper and more impactful engagement with your local community and future talent pipeline. Evidence tells us that teachers are one the biggest influencers on young people’s decision making and teacher encounters give you the opportunity to support them to inspire the next generation to the best of their ability.
🎬 On Wednesday, 12 teachers from various schools attended an inspiring Teacher Encounters event at the National Film & Television School (NFTS)! They were tasked with creating a short film about snails, exploring every aspect of filmmaking, including planning, storyboarding, filming, lighting, script writing, casting, voiceovers, sound effects, and soundtracks. 🐌✨ The event also explored pathways into the creative industries, providing valuable insights for educators to share with their students. Quotes from the day: Helen Southwood, Chesham Grammar School: "It has been really interesting to understand the importance of the skills we are trying to develop in students eg resilience, flexibility, adaptability, and not just prepare them for exams." Lucy Wynne, Chesham Grammar School: "It’s been great, really interesting to see what goes on and what the possibilities are. There are so many different things you can do and share with the students." Simon Carter, Aspire: "I have been on many development/CPD sessions and this is by far the best! It’s been brilliant. I work in music and there are so many ways I can now involve DT and digital in what the students do." The Royal Grammar School, High Wycombe #NFTSTeacherEncounter #CreativeEducation #Filmmaking
