I love jumping in as part of a team which is why I love working with my 1:1 clients. This is our six-month intensive course where I work side by side with £multi-mill turnover Subcontractors to get their teams up to scratch with tendering and commercial management. This is usually a case of working closely with teams to learn the ins and outs of all things commercial. Often I am teaching people who have not been involved in estimation and tendering before (Project Managers, Administrators, etc.) Or I'm working with Quantity Surveyors/Estimators who just need a bit of a leg up on how to return a really solid response. But what I'm really doing is helping Directors step out of this process themselves so that they can have more time in client relationships or with their families.

How can you tell if your QS is any good? Because they’re out, on the ground, walking the site. If they’re not getting their boots dirty, you’re missing out on one of the biggest advantages of project management. Because cost control, risk management, and accurate forecasting don’t happen behind a desk. They happen when your QS sees the site in real-time, talks to the team, and gets up close with the materials and progress.
