Talking Trucks: Back in the day, the sales meeting agenda was Dealer / Manufacturer performance, we had stats which showed registrations in your "Postcode Area" you would then drill down into each postcode to identify why we lost sales, there was the National Fleet Deals which very rarely was given to that local Dealer, Pump ins etc. But now its dog eat dog, sales profits are being eroded just to get the deal, the Manufacturers don't help by giving big sales allowances to win the Contract Hire/Rental businesses, who in turn took deals away from you because you can't match their prices, and all for market share. Is it still the same today chaps ? I think a lot of sales are now made purely on what stock is readily available for a quick cheap sale any where in the country, and the use of social media sites. I know in my area you don't see some new makes anymore, no wonder Lewis Hamilton is moving teams, the Frogs R Legless, Italians must be focused on Pizza sales😄but Man and others Scan the area and are not Daft, and Ov lov also❤️ to prosper, even the small boys are Grafters. Dear Collision Shops and alike: As a Sales Manager there is this principle called “do the right thing” meaning: 1. Have integrity 2. Be honest and transparent about your offering aka product or service 3. Don’t sell something you do not believe in 4. Don’t bad mouth your competition 5. READ #4 AGAIN 6. Don’t tell blatant lies about your competitors as a way to sell your product or service - FOCUS on your own strengths and if you talk to enough people, you understand the gaps that each competitor has and the oppprtunity you have to fill that void/pain. I’ve have personal talked to 5 shops in the past 2 days that have openly asked me about a complete and utter lie(same lie) with the same name being brought up as to where that came from. “If it looks like a duck and sounds like a” … well you already know what it is 🦆 I am PROUD to say that you will NEVER hear me, or my sales team talk badly about our competitors, spread complete lies in order to get a sale. NEVER Regardless of what we are being told by shops, knowing we may lose a sale or 10 and keep in mind my team is commissioned like most people within sales, we will continue to speak truthfully and transparent to our shops. I will continue to coach my Sales Team to ALWAYS speak good things of existing tools because they all have there pluses. Our discussions will always be geared toward understanding our customers needs and if those are areas we can help them succeed in, we will help! We will also make sure that it’s a good fit based on shop process and workflow which involves a detailed conversation of shop dynamics. If you are a Collision Shop, and your hearing things from your sales person that sound very “used car salesman-ish” PLEASE think about who you are deciding to do business with. A guide to selling in the fast lane

When I was running sales at Cheddar, I made a HUGE mistake... We were down for the quarter and I panicked. For all of the accounts that weren't closing I took matters into my own hands. Instead focusing on rallying the team and coaching them on how we can tackle the problem together, I attempted to close all of the accounts alone. Then I sent a message that I wasn't seeing the "hustle" that was needed to hit our quarter. Needless to say this didn't go over too well. I look back and realize how differently I would have handled this scenario today. I would have: 1. Sat down with the team and cleaned the pipe. Identified our gap to goal and the accounts most likely to close in the given time period. 2. Gotten an honest appraisal of where we were and who we should go after. Met with each seller individually and come up with three ideas I would help them with to close those specific accounts. 3. Sent an encouraging, rallying email to the team letting them know I believe in them and that we would work together to hit our goal. The difference? Understanding that everything is a team sport. And team sports need great leadership to thrive. I needed to support and lead the team to close those accounts and continue to rally for QoQ growth. So I took that lesson to heart. For the future of the company my only job was to lead and their success was my success. In that framework, we ended up getting to $50M in revenue in three years and selling the company for $200M. Teamwork truly makes the dream work.

Story about this airplane toy ✈️ in our sales office… Each company has its own approach to sales and how they deal with their customers. Even by looking at two companies in the same industry, there is a big chance that their sales process doesn’t have anything in common. Inmold’s way is direct and hands-on approach. That means that we try to spend as much time as possible with the customer, either through visits or fairs. And here comes the story about airplane toy… 😀 We got it from our national carrier AirSerbia at the beginning of this year as a small gift for successful cooperation. Immediately, we made a stand for it, placed it in our sales office and made a rule for our sales team: “Who ever sees this airplane more than three days in a row, buys a drink for everyone in the office” 🙂 What do you think about this rule?

Also, consider that if they aren’t following up on their leads this is a key sign that your sales team is underperforming.
