Over the last decade, the NC-based nonprofit You Can Vote has grown from an all volunteer-run organization to 20 staff, a presence in 64 counties and 600+ partnerships. They do a lot more than voter registration: they’ve created “Know Your Rights” guides, voter education and social media toolkits, explainer videos and are about to launch a “Build Your Ballot” tool. All of these resources are available for news organizations and community groups to use (and a number are translated into Spanish). But YCV provides another service to the news and information ecosystem: 10 years of insights into how to best communicate with the public about elections. "We can offer media organizations the kind of real life, on the ground feedback from what we’re hearing. News organizations can use us as a resource because we are not trying to sell a candidate. We’re not trying to say 'You’ve got to vote to save our democracy.' Our message is 'You can vote and we can help,'” said Deputy Director Caitlin Metzguer. Caitlin will be sharing more on Wednesday July 24 at Noon, when the Workshop kicks off a series of roundtable discussions to help news & info orgs share resources, challenges and insights on this year's election coverage. Reserve your spot here: https://lnkd.in/dqkxj7QV You can also learn more in this week's Q&A: https://lnkd.in/eDKMxekq Know someone who could benefit from these resources? There is no question about the significance of the 2024 elections from the presidential race on down to every single local race. I'm pretty sure I don't have to convince you on that front. Nor do I have to convince you how much your clients’ votes matter. Both in the larger sense, but also in terms of ensuring that we have elected officials who support policies and the allocation of resources that will in concrete ways help make your clients' lives better. The simple fact is you can't vote if you aren't registered. And that's where you come in. As a nonprofit, you and your team are in a uniquely valuable position to help your clients take the critical step of registering to vote, which is the first step in making their voice heard at the ballot box. Here's something you might not know: Low-income voters engaged by non-profits are 15% more likely to vote than folks in that same cohort who don't hear from a nonprofit about registering. Your voice and credibility really matter to the people you serve. And your offering to help them register to vote might make the difference as to whether they decide to participate in this election. One of the most common reasons that people haven't registered so far, is that no one has ever asked them. It's very possible that you will be the first person that has ever asked your client to register. In this week's episode, we share: · Three levels of voter registration support you can offer your clients, from basic to advanced · The two most important questions to ask your clients to move them to register to vote · The top national resources to help you do advanced-level voter registration work with your clients · How to engage and support clients to register if your service model doesn’t involve in-person contact with them · How to help your clients successfully navigate restrictive voting laws designed to suppress the vote · What you and your clients need to know about ID requirements for registration and voting, and how to navigate them · Key actions you can take to support voter registration by immigrants who are US citizens

dim. 18 août à 09 h 53 Stop Republicans is a 100% grassroots-funded organization with a single mission: rallying Democrats to exercise their right to vote to and win competitive elections. Look, we hope to have you on our team, but if you'd like to unsubscribe from our emails, please click here. Look - Donald Trump is going to CRY when he reads this: ✅ Ahead of the Democratic National Convention, generous Democrats activated an unprecedented 400%-MATCH on all donations to Stop Republicans PAC boost Democratic Voter Turnout to elect Kamala Harris. ✅ Now, Good Dems are FLOODING us with donations. It's UNBELIEVABLE!! ✅ We need 50,000 donations to fully fund our 2024 Voter Turnout Teams to BOOST Voter Turnout for Vice-President Harris! Will you rush $5 Stop Republicans PAC to help us hit our goal before the Convention begins tomorrow? But remember we're still in a tight race ↘↘ ❌ Trump is using every penny he has to spread nasty lies about Kamala Harris. ❌ The polls are NECK-AND-NECK. ✅ If we raise enough money to fully fund our Voter Turnout Teams, we can boost Democratic Turnout by 10.4% nationwide – that’s enough to elect Kamala Harris in a LANDSLIDE! But if we miss our deadline, we can’t afford to send our Voter Turnout Teams to the key battleground states that Kamala Harris needs to win. So we’re begging: Will you chip in $5 (worth 4X!) to Stop Republicans PAC to help us elect Kamala Harris? - Stop Republicans PAC

On this 4th of July week, it’s a good time to pause and reflect. Democracy has always been messy, always imperfect, and always a work in progress. If we’re paying attention, we know that democracy is an ongoing project. What’s easy to overlook is that the success of that ongoing project requires the active participation of all of us. And when that participation wanes is when opportunities arise for those who would undermine democracy or bend it to their own self-interested purposes. We are in such a time right now. If ever there were an all-hands-on-deck moment to protect and defend and expand the promise of democracy, this is it. And nonprofit leaders are in an extraordinary position to help expand that participation for those who stand to lose the most if democracy is subverted any further. In this week's episode, we share: · The five main reasons people don’t vote · The key ingredients that will help clients to reliably show up to vote · The most important thing you should do before you begin engaging clients around voting · Three simple actions you can take this week to raise awareness around voting · Four key pieces of information to share with clients to make it easy for them to register and vote · How to engage clients around beliefs that their vote may not matter · The basic rules on what 501(c)(3) nonprofits can and can’t do around elections and voting

There’s many ways we use data in politics, even more than in other types of marketing. Why? We have multiple goals from each of our “customers” (voters), which is quite different than just getting someone to buy your product. We want to fundraise from you. We want to hear your opinions. We want you to volunteer. We want you to go vote, ideally for our team. And we want figure out how likely you are to do any and all of these things. CPGs just need you to buy the product, but in politics we’ll take whatever you’re willing to give us :) Whether it’s your email, fifty bucks, your Saturday morning or best of all - your committed vote, we have many levels of success. The most common data sets in politics are what we refer to as Voter Files, which help us figure out the likelihood of the four calls to action above. Data that helps us understand your likelihood to follow through on any of those CTAs is what helps us determine how to spend our budgets. We establish certain benchmarks that put you in a likelihood bucket, which are typically subsets of Voter Files. Then we design strategies and messages to reach those subsets more effectively. Like any good salesperson, you have to work through people and how they are willing to help. That could mean a donation and a vote, but no volunteering. Or perhaps an email address to stay informed and nothing else. Our goal is to get you to the next CTA, but we’re forever grateful for any participation or energy you’re willing to provide. Ultimately, we all lose if you don’t vote! #politics #elections #election2024 #politicalconsulting #CTA #voting #politicaldata
