Smart piece by Julia Angwin on the frazzling effect from many journey navigation apps, which prioritize speed or trip duration over routes that are more enjoyable for the user. It doesn't have to be this way - which is why Via and Citymapper actively factor in deeper levels of customization (like minimizing annoying detours or strange turns!) to our routing algorithms.
Last week we celebrated the 10 year anniversary of City of Lone Tree's Link On Demand program — one of Via's longest-standing services that is helping Denver residents get to work, errands and more car-free. We were all especially moved by the story of Lone Tree local Jacqueline Rodriguez, whose son Hunter endured a traumatic brain injury that prevents him from driving. 📈New data shows that the majority of rides from Via-powered DuranGO! in Colorado is helping people get to affordable housing and workforce development opportunities — which is exactly the goal that was intended when it launched about 1 year ago. It's also the first time Durango Transit has hit more than 51,000 transit rides since 2014 — a testament to how Via's solutions can help transit networks regain momentum.
