“The wheels on this bus do indeed go round and round. Its wipers swish. And its horn beeps. Hidden in its innards, though, is something special — a motor that doesn’t vroom but pairs with a burgeoning technology that could help the grid proliferate with renewable energy.” We love this story from Grist reporter Matt Simon on how Zūm’s electric school buses with bidirectional charging and vehicle-to-grid technology benefit communities by sending energy back to the grid and “stabilizing it instead of straining it.” “School buses play a very important role in the community as a transportation provider, but now also as an energy provider,” Zum Co-Founder and COO Vivek Garg says. Oakland's newly introduced Zum's electric buses are not just eco-friendly vehicles; they're also powering the city's electrical grid! 🚍🔋 These buses are a prime example of maximizing the utility of electric vehicles. Here’s the breakdown: 1️⃣ **Background of E-Bus Introduction**: Oakland has replaced its diesel buses with electric ones to reduce carbon emissions. 🌿 It’s a crucial step towards cleaner air and combating climate change. 2️⃣ **Function as Batteries**: When these e-buses aren’t on the road, they double as massive batteries. ⚡️ They can store electricity when needed and supply it back to the grid, significantly boosting energy efficiency! 3️⃣ **Energy Management for the City**: Even during peak times when electricity demand is high, these buses can supply stored power, ensuring stable energy distribution across the city. 📈 Oakland is truly leading the way in energy management! 4️⃣ **Future Potential of Electric Buses**: Oakland’s model is inspiring other cities as well. 🌍 By utilizing the buses as large-scale batteries, cities can increase the share of renewable energy and optimize energy use. These Cases are not just vehicles but are setting a global example of how electric vehicles can revolutionize energy management. 🚍🔋 This is a bold step towards a sustainable future! #Oakland #ElectricBus #EcoFriendly #Sustainability #FutureTransport #SuccessStory #CleanEnergy #EnergyEfficiency

Electric school buses: Clean commuting during the school year, grid stability during the summer—the ultimate win-win! A growing fleet of electric school buses in NYC is not only providing cleaner, quieter transportation for students, but it’s also helping stabilize the electric grid. When these buses aren’t in use, they can return stored energy back to the grid, creating a sustainable solution for both commuting and energy supply. Key Highlights: 🌱 Cleaner Transportation: Electric school buses reduce emissions and provide eco-friendly transportation for students. ⚡ Grid Stability: During the summer months, when buses are not in use, they can discharge stored energy back into the grid to help balance peak demand. 🌍 Win-Win Scenario: This innovative approach benefits both the environment and the energy grid, making it a smart solution for schools and utilities alike. Electric school buses are proving that sustainability and innovation can go hand in hand! #ElectricSchoolBuses #CleanEnergy #SustainableTransportation #GridStability #ElectricVehicles #PeakDemand https://lnkd.in/gEznjZcm

Kinetic Roads - Generating Energy with Every Move. Have you ever thought about roads that can generate electricity as you drive on them? That's the concept, behind kinetic roads! They're transforming how we construct roads and travel.🧳 These special roads utilize materials that convert the motion of vehicles moving over them into power. These materials are known as peizo-electric materials. When cars, trucks or even bicycles pass these roads they come into contact with these materials and generate energy. What’s truly remarkable is that this form of energy is renewable. This implies that we can continue generating electricity without depleting our non-renewable resources such, as coal or oil. So every time you hit the road take pride in knowing that you're contributing to powering your city!🔌 Imagine cruising along roads that not only lead you to your destination but also generate electricity as you travel. It's like giving back to nature every time you take a drive. In the future, kinetic roads could be playing a vital role in making our cities more eco-friendly and our lives better. What’s more exciting is that with the increasing popularity of EVs kinetic roads could play an even better role in our daily lives. Just imagine the convenience of driving and charging your car on the same road – it's a win-win for both transportation and energy sectors. So, let's keep moving ahead with kinetic roads and electric vehicles. Knowing that every mile we travel is not just a travel but a journey towards a cleaner and greener tomorrow.🌍 #sustainability #kineticroads #construction

This was a common myth that has since been dispelled by real data: "Electric buses are... more economical in the long run, but they also reduce ongoing maintenance needs... which translates into savings for both operators and taxpayers." Facts and data contradict his opinion that electric buses are saving transit agencies money. EV buses are more expensive to purchase, operate (power is not free), and maintain (they break down all the time), and based on the data I've seen from neutral third parties like the National Renewable Energy Laboratory and various transit agencies, battery electric buses cost more in every category, so let's not pretend we're saving transit agencies money. https://lnkd.in/g5Vjqqt6

One of the problem that arises with Electric or other Hybrid and Renewable Vehicles is its weight i.e. EVs weight can damage current roads and even creates resistance in moments. I have a solution for it. I think all the EVs produced till now has it's weight consolidated at it's base and I think this could be a reason for it. So, why not we work on a design where the weight will be share throughout the body and considered center of mass as priority.
