In an attempt to make things easier for people who want drone shots but unsure what to ask for, here's another simple yet effective one- Orbit. - Also known as "Point of Interest" the UAV typically strafes a 360 degree circle while maintaining focus on a central point such as a building or in this case the Isle of Fidra in East Lothian. This shot makes great use of the parallax effect whereby the foreground (Island) and background (Baps of Fife) appear to move at different speeds. The vast majority of pilots use automatic settings to lock on to the target, and although technically maintaining a perfect 360 circle, I find that for cinematic effect it is better to fly this manually. Often these shots are cut to 180 degree arcs, or less in the edit in order to maintain the viewers' attention.

Having seen, for the umpteenth time, that video of a Chinese #drone #swarm, here's a #challenge for anyone in the industry that I'd like to see. Dynamic joining and movement - no taking off from a field, laid out in neat rows. I want to see someone - literally - throwing a drone out of a moving car and it forming a swarm with others. The technology is out there - it was done with F/A-18s launching Perdix drones back in 2016 from chaff dispensers (see video below), so can something similar be done? https://lnkd.in/eKcBERWC

Drone evolution- Ukrainian FPV drone detaches from mother drone in mid-air. It is claimed to be capable of both attacking a target below and protecting the mother drone from enemy FPV. We can see an FPV detaching from the mother drone and flying with the mothership in the footage taken here. Platforms such as these and new “ Fly by wire” systems are being more prevalent in the front lines. #TheLeaflet
