A year ago, Sophie Morgan decided to take action, saying "enough is enough." This Monday, July 22nd at 9 pm, Channel 4 will broadcast "Fight to Fly," a documentary highlighting the urgent need for change.
Last year, Sir Keir Starmer pledged to support Sophie and Rights on Flights and eradicate the last remaining inequalities in air travel.
We look forward to start driving change for good comes July 23rd.
Change is inevitable, change is coming.

A prominent business leader has criticised aspects of the Scottish Government’s late-in-coming aviation strategy as 'troubling' and 'falling short'. He raises concerns over the SNP supporting five new blockbuster Edinburgh Airport North America routes and none for Glasgow, and warns that 'there must be a risk that so much route development going to the one airport is distorting the market'.

Yesterday was a significant moment. Senior decision makers from across the Aviation industry in one room being educated on the real-world challenges faced by those travelling by air with mobility/accessibility requirements, but more important than that, actively engaging with the issue and working towards collective solutions. Onwards!
A brief excerpt from the article:
Ireland is a leader in so many areas of global aviation that it should take the lead, too, on making planes more accessible to everybody. “We have the real capacity to change things just with people in the room today. We can significantly move the needle,”.
“The essence of what business is, is about innovating and problem solving to meet the needs of customers. Awareness always precedes change. When people are not aware of the real impact a problem has on people, they can’t provide a solution. Today was about explaining the problem, the next step is about solving it.”
Thank you to Irelandia Aviationdec ryan for hosting and Tom Lyons at The Currency for profiling the discussion.

We need a single European sky, a real #airspacereform, supported by the underlying framework regulation. What we see are compromises increasing complexity and maintaining status quo – missing tangible enhancements for the well-being of individuals and the environment.
The Single European Sky (SES2+) negotiations continue but the direction of travel is taking us towards a destination that will only satisfy the negotiators without delivering a true reform of Europe's airspace. ⚖️
Europe's passengers and the environment deserve better than a compromise for the sake of compromise. ✈️🌍
Time for policymakers to take a bold stance and deliver a meaningful reform of how we fly in Europe.
Recent Rulings by the Court of Justice of the European Union in Cases C-474/22 (Laudamotion - Decision not to take a delayed flight) and C-54/23 (Laudamotion and Ryanair):
The Court has clarified that passengers who opted not to board a flight experiencing a considerable delay or those who purchased tickets for alternative flights and reached their destination with a delay of less than three hours, are not eligible for fixed compensation.
A well-reasoned decision that strikes a balance between protecting passenger rights and acknowledging the practicalities of air travel operations.

Airplanes leave a lasting impact in more ways than one. As contrails linger longer in the sky, it's a reminder that in luxury travel and aviation, our services should also leave a lasting impression. To truly stand out, we must strive to create experiences that resonate just as strongly as these visible markers, ensuring our clients remember the excellence of their journey long after they’ve landed.

There is a true disparity and leads to a lack of being able to or lack of wanting to travel for people that have disabilities especially those experiencing spinal cord injuries.
My son and I have experienced this first hand. Our family travels extensively, after my son’s injury we did not want to exclude him or have to cancel our family trips. The airlines did not have an aisle chair waiting for him, although I made it clear in my reservation and spoke with an agent when I checked our bags. They had to order an aisle chair so that he could be taken onto the plane and down the aisle. The gate agent was not happy about having to make this accommodation.
Thanks to our wonderful PT and OT team we were prepared for leaving the wheelchair at the gate. We removed his pressure relieving cushion and any other items that could get lost or broken on the chair. Which saved all of us a headache and allowed my son to be more comfortable on the plane ride with his pressure relieving cushion.
A change needs to happen with the airlines. People with physical disabilities should not have to give up a fundamental right of traveling, seeing the world and becoming a globally conscious citizen because they are afraid of having such an incremental and medically necessary part of their lives lost or destroyed.
Make airline aisles accessible to wheelchairs to make travel easier on anyone with a physical disability and airline workers.

"The airlines don't understand that I need my chair. It's a part of my everyday world, my everyday life. I need it like I need water," says United Spinal member, Shannon Minnick. Join us in making a change in airline accessibility: https://lnkd.in/gTGGAbC6
