Our abortion time limit is double the average time limit among EU countries. In most European Union (EU) countries, abortion is only legal on demand or on broad social grounds up to 12 weeks gestation, making legislation in the United Kingdom double the average among EU countries. When compared to almost every European Union country, it is clear that the United Kingdom is an outlier. Among the 27 countries that are member states of the European Union, three have a time limit for abortion on demand or on broad social grounds at 10 weeks, one country at 11 weeks, 15 countries at 12 weeks, 3 countries at 14 weeks and two countries only allow abortion in very limited circumstances. Countries with 12-week limits for abortion on demand or on broad social grounds include Germany, Italy and Belgium as well as the more “liberal” Nordic countries Denmark and Finland. Even Sweden has a time limit for abortion on demand or on broad social grounds that is much lower than the United Kingdom at 18 weeks.

And after appeal LinkedIn decided my comment was misinformation, not hate speech :D Yet, what in my comment is misinformation? Perhaps not entirely accurate, but it's a rare LinkedIn comment that is entirely accurate. On abortion, my comment is correct is the most relevant point, which is that the US is a global anomaly in how permissive our abortion laws are. https://lnkd.in/edB6PK_q - Of 193 U.N. countries, the United States is one of eight countries that allows, at the federal level, abortion on demand without any gestational limits along with Australia, Canada, China, Guinea-Bissau, Mexico, South Korea, and Vietnam. - The United States is one of only 15 countries in the United Nations that permit abortion on demand past 15 weeks of gestation, meaning its abortion law is far more permissive than the vast majority of the world. - 46 out of 50 European U.N. member countries restrict abortion on demand after 15 weeks of gestation.

To abort or not to abort is the question ❓ France celebrated International Women's Day with the wax-sealing ceremony of a constitutional revision. The country has made abortion a fundamental right and became the first country to explicitly guarantee abortion rights in its national charter. While there have been jubilant scenes of celebrations all over France, this bold and interesting move has sparked a debate in some parts. Most of the countries have legalised abortion where pregnancies are terminated inter alia in case of threat to a mother's life or health or in cases of rape, marital or otherwise. However, it's illegal in 24 countries, heavily restricted in 37 countries, the US overturned this right in 2022 followed by several states banning abortion, Hungary has tightened the abortion laws, Latin America has regressive anti-abortion laws, Africa has the highest death rate in unsafe abortion cases. Should there be a 'right' to take a human life ? It's constitutional yet controversial! Do let me know your thoughts in comments.

We are asking people who live in a EU member country to sign the European’s Citizens’ Initiative recently launched by My Voice, My Choice. MVMC is collecting signatures with the end goal of EU legislation that would create a fund to help EU member states cover the cost of abortions for people who: 1. Live in countries with almost complete abortion bans, like Malta, Poland and Andorra 2. Live in countries where abortion is not free like Germany and Austria 3. Live in a country where abortion is LEGAL but not accessible like Italy, Croatia, Romania and Hungary 4. Are from communities without access to healthcare due to residency or other status We at SAFE thought hard before deciding to support this initiative. Even if this initiative is 100% successful and such a fund is established, we know the abortion procedure is only one part of the cost, especially for people who need to travel long distances to access abortion. We know that an EU fund will not help people in countries like Italy and Romania and Hungary and Spain and others where there are regions without any abortion provision. We know that for many people living in countries with zero abortion access (Poland, Malta, Andorra) it is much easier to self manage abortion with pills than to travel abroad for care. We know that abortion support organizations like SAFE, Abortion Dream Team, Abortion Network Amsterdam and more will still be needed, whether the My Voice, My Choice initiative is successful or not. Despite these limitations, SAFE is asking people to support of My Voice My Choice. We are doing this because the end goal of safe abortion for everyone in Europe who needs it will only be achieved through a diversity of tactics. We are signing because we need all the help we can get in raising awareness of the fact that many, many people in Europe are unable to access abortions. You can sign the petition here: www.myvoice-mychoice.org #MyVoiceMyChoice #AbortionEurope #AbortionAccessForAll
