🚗 Do you know how to pass horses safely on the road? 🐎 It’s simple: ✅ Slow down to 10mph ✅ Give at least 2 metres of space ✅ Be patient - DON’T take risks As a rider who’s often out on the roads, I truly appreciate the majority of drivers who slow down and pass carefully. A friendly wave or nod is always my way of saying thank you! But unfortunately, there are still too many who speed past, overtake dangerously on blind hills, or show no consideration at all. I’ve even been met with verbal abuse on multiple occasions. We do everything we can to be visible including hi-vis clothing, flashing lights, you name it. But horses are unpredictable animals. They can spook at the smallest things, sometimes in ways we can’t foresee. So next time you see a horse and rider on the road, please remember: they’re just out enjoying the beautiful countryside with an animal they love.
