The historic oil town of Rainbow Lake, Alberta, is embarking on a groundbreaking initiative to become Canada's first entirely geothermal-powered city by 2028. Rising natural gas costs are a key driver, with city officials anticipating significant financial savings over the coming decades. However, accessing the necessary super-heated rock formations has been a major hurdle for geothermal adoption in the region. DeepPower's innovative X Drill technology presents a potential solution. This advanced design boasts the capability to break through previously impenetrable rock formations more efficiently, paving the way for geothermal power plant development in diverse locations. This project signifies a significant step towards a more sustainable energy future for Rainbow Lake and potentially other Canadian communities. #AlbertaGeothermal #SustainableEnergy #DeepPowerInnovation #CanadianFirst #RainbowLakeTransformation

PRESS RELEASE: CAOEC congratulates Trans Mountain Corp. on completing the Trans Mountain expansion (TMX) project #CAOEC joins other industry leaders in celebrating the completion of the long-awaited pipeline expansion. The pipeline will increase Canada’s export capacity and reduce the price differential on Western Canadian Select (WCS). “The Trans Mountain pipeline expansion provides a crucial piece of infrastructure for securing Canada’s energy future and will not only increase activity for our members in the drilling and service rig sector, but also create more middle-class jobs in rural, remote, and Indigenous communities,” said Mark A. Scholz, President & CEO of CAOEC. “However, we need to keep building. Canada’s capacity to deliver sustainable energy is unmatched, and the federal government needs to reevaluate its policy approach so that large-scale projects for energy egress can get built quicker.” Read the full release on our website: https://lnkd.in/gmryvQBx.

A recent Rystad Energy report highlights that Guyana and Brazil are set to be the key drivers of a record-breaking capital surge in the subsea market. The consultancy group projects that expenditure will soar beyond US$42 billion by 2027. The momentum behind this surge in demand for critical subsea components such as umbilical risers, flowlines (SURF), and trees, is fueled by deepwater and ultra-deepwater projects in these two nations. Notable initiatives like Guyana’s Yellowtail, Tilapia, and Redtail in the Stabroek Block, along with Brazil’s Buzios VIII and Sepia, clearly underscore South America’s rising influence in the global energy landscape. As these projects progress, they will no doubt play a crucial role in meeting the world’s increasing demand for energy while driving economic growth in the region. See Action Solar's thoughts on installing 100kWh (45kW) of our energy storage for this Los Angeles (SCE) client. The commercial client chose our system to not only lower their energy bill, but the demand portion of the bill too (typically not lowered much with solar only). Our system facilitates peak shaving (demand charge reduction), utility rate switches, self-consumption, and energy arbitrage (help avoid the high TOU rates in the evening); coupling with the PV system. All without extra wiring or taking up space elsewhere on the property!

Absolutely fascinating progress in geothermal energy extraction. Technological innovation is key to progress in well-being and sustainability. Hopefully Europe will soon profit from these new technologies. Fervo Energy is one of the best examples that we are in an age of innovation. This is what it takes to transform our energy system . #ageofinnovation #energytransition #sustainability
🚨🚨 NEW NEWS FROM FERVO 🚨🚨 The Department of Interior recently granted Fervo permitting approval for our Cape Station project, providing a pathway to develop the full 2GW+ resource. Huge shoutout to our land & permitting team for their amazing work. Clean firm is here with large-scale deployment right around the corner. Real projects, real offtake, real interconnection, and now real permitting to begin construction. Exciting times ahead for enhanced geothermal! https://lnkd.in/grzbksGf

Will more legacy #offshorewind projects decide to re-bid in the Atlantic US? Today marks the bidding deadline for the first ever large-scale, multi-GW collaborative auction in the US: The tri-state auction between #Massachusetts, #Connecticut and #RhodeIsland. The three neighboring states decided to join forces and resources to combat the recent economic turmoil in the American offshore wind market through flexibility and scale – allowing developers to re-think their projects and potentially unlock more benefits of scale, as the tri-state auction seeks to procure up to 6.8 GW of offshore wind altogether. Several old projects that cancelled offtake contracts with states such as New York, Massachusetts and Connecticut during 2023 may bid in this auction. How many of them will do so, and is the tri-state auction likely to continue the trend set by New York in its most recent auction, where old legacy projects successfully bid for new offtake contracts with higher prices? Sign up below for Aegir Insights’ next #Wavelength Intelligence Briefing on 9 April, 14:00 CET, where Head of Research Maria Holm Bohsen and Senior Research Analyst for the Americas Signe Sørensen discuss the tri-state auction and what it signifies as part of the ongoing reset of the American offshore wind sector. https://lnkd.in/dD_prHcA #USoffshorewind #marketintelligence #offshorewindauctions #auctionintelligence #USA

I've provided advice to the Tasmanian Government on the Marinus Link project for nearly five years, and it has been an interesting, challenging, and unique experience. I have been heavily involved in the recent move to the new ownership model for Marinus (attached) and make no mistake, this is a big development that a lot of people have worked very hard to achieve over a long time. There's more to come, and we'll see how the final business case for Marinus (and related energy projects) shapes up later this year. One thing is certain, this is a very big project, particularly in the Tasmanian context, and it presents both big opportunities and challenges. Watch this space. ⚡

Marseille Fos’s port Authority is currently undergoing revolutionary change as it moves from being an oil port to a multi-energy port. With the DEOS project, the Grand Port Maritime de Marseille - Port de Marseille Fos wants to develop the floating wind energy sector in the south of France. This project aims to make Marseille Fos a benchmark hub in the Mediterranean for this sector, thanks to this major development project. It includes the construction of an 80-hectare platform, backed by a high-capacity quay of up to 1,000 metres in length, in the heart of the Fos industrial zone. At the end of 2028, DEOS should provide the port with the infrastructure required to meet the industrial needs of deploying floating wind turbine fields in the Mediterranean, generating traffic of almost 500,000 tonnes of bulk cargo in the port, 15,000 tonnes of steel, and creating 1,500 jobs in the construction of the structures. #portofmarseillefos #newenergy #offshorewindpower #deos
