This is a critical week where alongside investor peers, farm operators and other ecosystem actors, I, on behalf of The Nature Conservancy, discuss where capital is required to accelerate progress toward a transition of agriculture production toward regenerative systems. Regenerative Food Systems Investment Forum. I'll lead a table discussion for the workshop: Bridging the Funding Gap for Regen Ag: Mobilizing Venture Capital, Philanthropy, and Everything In Between and host a shock scenario workshop with Farmhand Ventures and Tenacious Ventures. What is a shock scenario workshop and why host one? The intention is to use a provocative system ‘shock’ to help participants quickly get out of our comfort zones, creating space to identify unexpected opportunities, gaps in our thinking, and actions we might take today to accelerate progress on our collective goal of transitioning agriculture production towards regenerative systems.

One third of greenhouse gasses globally come from Agriculture, and conventional ag replaces habitat with monocultures and destroys topsoil. Our approach of using regenerative agriculture techniques with native-derived crops is unique - but it shouldn't be. We've spent this week deep in the numbers ahead of another round of grant applications and investor conversations, and there's absolutely no doubt that there's a strong business opportunity here to do well while doing good and directly address several of humanity's most pressing challenges - carbon, topsoil restoration, and food security through biodiversity. https://lnkd.in/eBsueH3v

Regenerative Food Systems Investment Forum is just around the corner and It's time to Rock N Roll for the health of our soils! 🎸🌱 As we're getting ready for Denver with my partner in crime Heather Boright, I thought it would be nice to share some of my favorite moments 🤩 from last February, when the Forum first came to Europe 🇧🇪 One of the coolest moments indeed, Philip Taylor, Ph.D. on stage ✊ sharing the story of Mad Agriculture and pitching Mad Capital's second fund - Perennial Fund II. These guys have been so creative and brave in finding how they can offer tailored loans for farmers who want to transition their land to regenerative organic practices - a great example of what John Kempf calls "building regenerative relationships". I deeply believe that transitioning to Regenerative Agriculture needs committment and investment from the whole value chain and farmer-centric innovation.

WE'RE GIVING UP TO £1 MILLION IN GRANTS TO OUR FARMERS In case you haven’t noticed, we’re big fans of fruit and veg. Huge. Can’t get enough of the stuff. If fruit and veg put on a concert, we’d be getting escorted off the premises for trying to get on stage.     As a B Corp business who squishes, juices and blends loads of it, we know we’ve got a responsibility to make sure there’s plenty of it for generations to come. That means growing it in a way that’s better for us, our farmers and the planet.  Drumroll at your desk, please. In comes our Farmer Innovation Fund.    It’s a £1 million pot of money, and it’s here to help the heroes growing our ingredients switch to regenerative farming. In other words, funding projects around things like low-carbon farming, more biodiversity and better livelihoods.  Our farmers pitch clever projects and if their pitch wins, they use the fund to trial practices that protect and improve soil health, cut emissions or the amount of water we use. All the good stuff we need to keep fruit and veg coming for years and years (and years and years. You get the picture).     We’ve set our sights on a pretty lofty target - halving the carbon footprint created by growing and moving the stuff we put into our drinks by 2030.
