💌 The Professional Matchmaker 💘 Happy February! Valentines Day is coming up - have you ever thought about how recruiting is like matchmaking? Recruiters act as modern-day Cupids, searching for that perfect candidate that checks off every box in what we’re looking for. 💗 Just like a matchmaker starts the connection between people, recruiters create compelling pitches that highlight a candidate’s or client’s unique qualities! 💞 After a connection is made, think of the interview like a first date. Recruiters organize these meetings to let both sides impress each other and see if there’s potential for a long-term professional relationship. 💝Onboarding is our happy ever after! This is the next chapter of the story where we get to ensure a smooth transition for the new hire, setting the stage for a lasting connection with their dream job. 🎉The best part? Celebrating at the end of the journey, recognizing the hard work put in to achieve career milestones. As a recruiter, you’re an expert at building successful professional stories, making matches that elevate both businesses and careers! Job applications don't get you hired. Conversations do. I met Laura when I attended an in-person networking event. I actually didn’t talk to her at the event, but she left her email on the whiteboard. I contacted her, we set up a time to talk, and she got me an interview. In the end, I got an offer and joined a small yet mighty team. She ended up being one of the best managers I’ve had. To this day she still advocates and roots for me. Your hiring manager is somewhere out there. Make connections on LinkedIn every day. Attend online and in-person events. Ask for intros and meet people. Find your hiring manager. The rest will follow.

We had over 1,000 people attend our Job-Search Panel on Wednesday. Being a "facts" queen, I extremely excited to learn a few powerful new stats. At large companies ... 🔦 We have a 3% chance of landing an interview when applying to an online job posting 🔦 Recruiters are receiving 400-500 applications for every opening 🔦 For most roles, only 5-7 candidates get an interview 🔦 70-80% of interviews are landed due to RECOMMENDATIONS, not referrals. What's the difference? A referral is when someone fills out a form in the HR system at their company. A RECOMMENDATION is when someone walks or forwards your resume to a recruiter or hiring manager and personally recommends you. While these facts were for large companies, I believe it is safe to assume that the stats are similar for mid and small sized organizations as well. My take-away? This may seem counterintuitive and uncomfortable for some: Stop spending ALL your time searching. Spend at least 80% of your time networking, 20% applying. - Did you attend? - What were your top 3 takeaways? - What topics would you like covered in future? Job Searcher Insights: Kate suggests that job searchers ought to try to be RECOMMENDED for jobs, not just referred. Things are tough right now for job seekers. We all need to do a little bit more than we did in the past to help our friends and colleagues to land into good jobs. Thanks Kate Wade!

Talent Acquisition Partner at Carrington West | Investors in People Platinum Employer Accredited | Investors in Wellbeing Platinum Accredited | The Sunday Times Best Place to Work 2023
Happy Monday! I hope everyone's had a fab weekend. As a Talent Acquisition Partner for Carrington West, the main question I get asked by candidates is "What can I expect from a career in recruitment?" There are a lot of positive benefits from working in the recruitment industry, but like any other job, it does come with some challenges. It is crucial that you consider both the pros and cons before applying for a job! Below are a few benefits and challenges for you to consider if you have thought about beginning a career in the recruitment industry. Benefits: · Good potential earnings 💸 · Varied role, keeping you busy ⏰ · A range of different sectors🚂 🛣 🏘 🏗 · Opportunity for growth and self-development ✔ Challenges: · Competitive 🏅 · Target driven 🎯 · Market changes ⬆⬇ · Potential rejection ❌ My dog, Lola, considers working in recruitment daily, but she isn't very competitive nor does she like rejection but she could use the money for unlimited treats 😂 If you want to find out more about what a career in recruitment looks like, contact me on: 🤙 02394314785 📧 Weronika.lasocka@carringtonwest.com 📲 Direct message on LinkedIn
