Great news! 🙈 We've just launched a cool interview series spotlighting the amazing folks shaping our team.
Today, Alina Belko, our HR Lead, spills the beans on her journey in the gaming world, what lured her to Vira Games, and the unique challenges she faces in her role. Get ready for some behind-the-scenes insight!
Q1: Hey, Alina! 🖐🏻 How did you join Vira Games and what interested you in this company?
A: Hello everyone! I joined Vira Games almost a year ago. The company's Ukrainian roots, its youthful ambition, and its eagerness to grow and constantly improve really caught my attention.
Q2: What key factors do you consider when selecting new team👩🏼💻members?
A: We take both hard and soft skills into account, along with alignment with the company's values. Recently, we updated our values, which you can find on the company's website. Selection based on values has proven effective, reflected in our strong scores in employee Net Promoter Score (eNPS) surveys, particularly in the "People at work" and "Atmosphere" categories. For leadership positions, we place even more emphasis on cultural fit, aiming for leaders who embody our values at every level.
Q3: How do you contribute to shaping the corporate 🦸🏼♀️ culture at Vira Games?
A: As a fully remote company, providing flexibility but also posing challenges, maintaining our culture remotely is a task. We've started increasing meetings for discussions, introducing diverse training and activities, and it's just the beginning. We also have an anonymous form where anyone can ask questions to anyone in the company. Once a sufficient number of questions accumulate, we hold an informal "Frankly Speaking" meeting, openly addressing all employee questions, promoting transparency and openness.
Additionally, we're gradually adding training programs. Recently, our Head of ART launched a Peer Mentorship program, encouraging employees to gather and discuss trends, innovations, and more over coffee. There's a lot of exciting initiatives ahead!
Q4: As an HR manager, what are the main challenges you see in recruiting and retaining talented employees?
A: The primary challenge in retaining employees is ensuring a positive employee experience and providing development opportunities. Currently, we are actively working on enhancing development opportunities and improving the employee experience at all levels, from onboarding to offboarding.
Q5: What aspects 🤔 of working in our team impress you the most?
A: The openness and willingness of people to help are particularly impressive. Our team members are understanding, supportive, and act as ambassadors during changes. They are open to new challenges, and I am truly inspired by these individuals.
It's your turn to steer the conversation! Got questions? Alina's got answers!
