CEO, Gender Equity Victoria | Non-Executive Director, South Eastern Melbourne Primary Health Network
Do you know how many places, spaces or artwork where you live are named after women? The response is probably not great. In fact, it may be quite appalling or just plain embarrassing. This is another fantastic step towards addressing gender inequity with commemorative justice. #genderequity #commemorativejustice #puthernameonit
Victoria has a rich history of incredible women who have shaped this state. Despite this, our public landmarks lack a gender lens. There are too few women recognised and honoured in street names, parks and gardens, state electorates, local government wards and via significant sculptural and other public artworks. Thankfully this is on a course for change. Congratulations to the State Government and Natalie Hutchins MP for investing in a second round of the Women’s Public Art Program! You can learn more about this program and how you can get involved here ⬇ https://lnkd.in/g4AQtU9d #genderequity #commemorativejustice #puthernameonit

🏛️Join the #civility pledge movement initiated by Mayor Marianne Meed Ward (C.Dir.). Details: https://lnkd.in/gAF6t7xC We pledge to: 1. Support each other and call out #abuse and #harassment when we see it or experience it; 2. Call on all our allies to stand with us to support women in office and call out all forms of abuse and harassment; 3. Call on all elected officials to uphold the highest standards of conduct, focusing on #respectful debate of the issues and not personal attacks; 4. Call on the relevant authorities to ensure the protection of individuals who speak out against abuse, or who experience abuse, providing them with the necessary support and resources.
A huge thank you to everyone who contributed to and signed the H.E.R. Halton pledge back in May to end harassment of women in government. We have started a movement -- with the pledge being picked up nationally by the Canadian Association of Feminist Parliamentarians! We are now working on what are our next steps and intend to open up our original H.E.R. pledge and invite any elected officials who want to sign on to reach out to my office. We will keep a rolling update, including on my website. If any elected official hasn't done so and would like to, please let us know and we'll add new names as they come in. I also encourage elected officials to reach out to their own networks of women to include anyone who wishes to participate. Learn more and read a copy of the CAFP pledge here: https://lnkd.in/gda7d5zK

Cooperatives, along with employee ownership and other 'beyond profit' structures, are at the heart of the Restoration of our corporate world. Imagine even turning the corporate structure of every country into an employee owned co-operative. Now that's some divine thinking! #weareenough #thereisenough #comeontherestoration
“Scotland has a rich tradition of radical women agitating for social change: equal rights, votes for women. But the history is in danger of getting lost” says media co-op’s Vilte Vaitkute. “It’s been a real honour and huge fun for media co-op to collaborate with local women activists, to rescue this inspiring history of the co-op movement, and put it on screen. Being nominated for this award is the icing on the cake. We’re asking everyone we know to watch and vote, vote, vote.” Please vote for our 2-minute film on women's rights and co-operative history https://lnkd.in/eyXfqsM3 Engender Scotland Close the Gap Zero Tolerance Scotland Cooperatives UK Paisley Museum & Art Gallery OneRen SCVO (Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations) National Library of Scotland Scotmid Co-operative Refuge
