Thank you to our partners at Alamo Colleges District for the opportunity to look at their impactful Transfer Compact! They have done a great job improving student outcomes through strong transfer relationships. -In 2020, ACD Compact students who had no excess credit hours collectively saved up to $374 million on tuition costs. Among those who followed a Seamless Transfer Pathway, students who transferred to a public university saved an average of $40,215 and those who transferred to a private university saved an average of $54,435. -Alamo Colleges District students who transferred to Compact schools graduated at significantly higher rates than those who had transferred to schools not participating in the Compact. Across all race/ethnicities, students at Compact institutions graduated at higher rates compared to students at non-Compact institutions, and this was especially pronounced for Black and Hispanic students. -On average, students who earned a bachelor’s degree from a Compact school spent less time at the Compact institution than those who earned a bachelor’s degree from a non-Compact institution.
New Spotlight Research Brief by Trellis Strategies! We're excited to share our latest research brief, authored by Carla Fletcher, highlighting the South Central Transfer Compact. Established in 2015 by the Alamo Colleges District in partnership with Texas A&M University and Austin Community College, the Compact creates more efficient pathways for community college students transferring to four-year institutions. #NeurodiversityCelebrationWeek continues! Knowing that 20% of students, faculty and staff are neurodivergent - a shift is needed toward a more inclusive culture in all campus settings. From classrooms and labs, sports and fitness spaces, to libraries, student common areas and cafeterias – designing spaces that address all physical and mental needs is critical. Access to natural light and the inclusion of biophilic elements were central to the renovation of St. Charles Community College's Life Science Building. The transformation gave them the teaching environment they needed to foster student success. ✏️ Let's erase the digital divide ✏️ On a mission to end generational poverty by brokering the collision of worlds to amplify educational attainment and improve livelihoods | Former Google Exec
Addressing the critical issue highlighted in this EdSource article, where a majority of high school students fail to complete the A-G requirements for admission to the University of California or California State University systems, reinforces the urgency of our mission at Inspirame. The panelists rightly emphasize the need to raise expectations and provide robust support to ensure student success. This aligns with our commitment to empowering learners through TecoGuide, a platform designed to guide students seamlessly from college access to career readiness. The challenges highlighted in the article, such as the lack of awareness, inadequate support, and conflicting schedules, underscore the necessity for innovative solutions. TecoGuide, with its comprehensive features, is positioned to bridge these gaps by offering clear pathways, financial aid guidance, and real-time assistance. Our mission is not only about creating awareness but providing actionable degree plans and real-time guidance to all learners. By leveraging technology, we aim to make the educational journey more accessible, reducing the barriers faced by students and parents who may not be familiar with A-G requirements. Moreover, TecoGuide is there to remind families that financial constraints should not be a detour but an opportunity to explore alternative paths, including affordable options like community college transfer routes. The systemic changes discussed, especially the need for equity-focused evaluation and default enrollment processes, resonate deeply with our vision for inclusivity and accessibility. Through collaborations with schools, districts, and equity programs, we aspire to contribute to the transformative changes needed at both the district and statewide levels. Inspirame is dedicated to being an integral part of the solution, empowering all students to navigate their educational journey successfully. Let's work together to create a future where every student has the opportunity to fulfill their dreams, irrespective of their background or circumstances. This opportunity is too important to keep quiet, I hope you will join me in sharing the importance of expanding access and awareness. Mauricio Gonzalez #TecoGuide

In 2023, only 48% of California’s high school graduates met the criteria for admission into the state’s two public university systems, with traditionally underserved students seeing even higher levels of ineligibility, according to a recent EdSource report. EOS Superintendent-in-Residence Ryan Smith, an education leader in California for twenty years, has witnessed this issue first-hand – but sees a clear path to a brighter future for the state’s high school students. In his new article, Smith breaks down his solution to this persistent problem into a few key focus areas: Raising expectations and changing mindsets, eliminating barriers and increasing support for students, and engaging and empowering parents. Smith highlights EOS as one of the organizations helping schools cultivate inclusive and encouraging classroom environments, which allows students to reach new academic heights and equips them with the tools to thrive at the next level. Read more about Smith’s advice to education leaders below. #education #partnership #studentaccess #california #UC #CalState

The phenomenal team leading The Divided Community Project has just released a whole new set of #FREE resources through their #CampusBridge initiative, and there’s more to come next week! If you are a #highered institution experiencing or preparing for campus unrest (it is an election year, after all), this information is for you. A few highlights: 1. Leading a Divided Campus (Second Ed.) - developed as a guide for institutional leaders seeking to support students through civil unrest and updated specifically to include recommendations for supporting Palestinian, Arab, Jewish, and Israeli students. This updated version also includes step-by-step recommendations for developing campus safety protocols to manage crowd events and hate incidents. 2. Campus Crisis Simulation - an all new simulation designed to assist campus leaders and other stakeholders navigating campus unrest related to the ongoing violence in Gaza, along with domestic anti-Palestinian and anti-Semetic rhetoric. (There is also a fantastic previous simulation that helps plan for campus protests sparked by anti-immigrant political rhetoric). All of the #CampusBridge resources can be found at the link below: https://lnkd.in/gFvtCEXj If you can’t tell, I admire the DCP team (led by Carl Smallwood and William Froehlich) so very much. They are doing the necessary work to make our campuses and communities safer and more resilient in the face of mass cultural and political unrest. The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law
