Our #volunteerengagement program provides a very tangible and practical means for anyone who wants to make a difference. Volunteers 🙋♀️ participate in a direct hands-on activity where they package 📦 #nutritious meals to serve the needy. Every year, we organize group events across the country with thousands of volunteers who are employees from #corporate groups & other organizations, students from different schools and colleges, members of clubs & professional associations to package millions of meals. Every Saturday, we also open our volunteering programs in our office premises or in the warehouses in #Bangalore, #Delhi, #Mumbai and #Bhubaneswar. This is open for anyone and everyone who want to do connect with a cause and make a meaningful impact. Thanks to the volunteers who have been part of the Rise Against Hunger India volunteering experience through the #CommunityMealPackaging events. Because of your efforts, countless lives have been directly impacted through provision of essential meals. Those who want to #jointhemovement and take part in different volunteering activities (no fees or payments required), submit your details here: https://lnkd.in/g7GD5dze #riseagainsthungerindia #volunteering #mealpackaging #jointhemovement #beapartofthesolution #givingback #volunteerengagement #hungeraction

To the youth of Kashmir and anyone! Don't let idle time go to waste—your efforts can lead to meaningful change in our community. Consider Volunteering for causes you care about. Although it's a bit late to share my own volunteering experience, I believe it’s worth sharing. I started my volunteering with Human welfare Voluntary Organization back in 2022. I was eager to contribute to my community and wanted to focus on environmental issues, as the degradation of our environment deeply concerns me. I showed my interest to work with them however, I was informed that they work under a project related to gender. I researched about the topic and realised how little I knew about it. I was initially disheartened but my love to explore different things encouraged me to give it a try. I was assigned report-making tasks for the first few weeks, as I had experience writing for newspapers. Through this work, I gained insights into the organization's activities. After a month, I started going for the field work with other team members. We used to go to the remote villages to conduct workshops for psycho social counselling. During these workshops, I came across many women who were suffering from mental health issues. The saddest part of which was that many of them were unaware about it. During these workshops, I not only gained a firsthand exposure to the prevalence of the mental health issues especially among women of remote areas in Kashmir but this experience also heightened the importance of awareness campaigns in communities. Although, this volunteering had been challenging for me as it took an emotional toll on me while working with the vulnerable communities but in the long run it made me a better human. Volunteering not only transformed my perspectives, it also allowed me to contribute meaningfully to causes I care about, which gave me a sense of purpose and fulfillment. To anyone considering volunteering: don't hesitate. The experience may take you in unexpected directions, but it will always make you a better version of yourself. #Volunteering #Bepartofchange

Picture a bustling slum in Mumbai. A non-profit organisation is actively working in the area, and you hear about their volunteers working at grassroots level. This #InternationalVolunteersDay, think of who comes to your mind? College students working for summer credits? Employees from a corporate sharing a skill which is hard to obtained? External volunteers volunteer for issues that they feel strongly about. Volunteering provides external volunteers a way to engage with and learn about different communities. The face of volunteering has long been tied to privilege. The volunteers we don’t often think of often are the community volunteers, people who live in the under-served places, who are driving change; for themselves, their families and their communities. In resource-scarce urban slums, the most sustainable way to foster change is from within. Community volunteers, bring lived experiences and an intrinsic understanding of local issues. These individuals work on problems they deeply understand, crafting solutions that are feasible and practical in their context Community volunteers bring a deep understanding of local issues and lived experiences, enabling them to craft practical, relevant solutions. Their unique strength lies in bridging gaps between residents and service providers—whether it’s ensuring children access education, connecting families to healthcare, or spreading awareness about hygiene. Trusted by their neighbours, they amplify the reach and impact of interventions, creating ripples of progress. In urban poor settings, volunteers also play a crucial role in disaster preparedness and resilience. During floods, heatwaves, or disease outbreaks, trained volunteers provide critical information, organize resources, and lead timely responses, saving lives and reducing losses. Their impact during the COVID-19 crisis stands as undeniable proof of their importance. Beyond addressing immediate needs, community volunteers inspire collective action. A single effort can spark larger, sustainable changes as others follow their lead. This sense of ownership fosters pride, unity, and long-term development. Volunteering also transforms the volunteers themselves. It equips them with new skills, builds confidence, and opens opportunities to lead, creating a cycle of empowerment that strengthens the community from within. By nurturing and investing in community volunteers, CSOs ensure that change in urban poor areas is not just meaningful but enduring. Let’s celebrate these changemakers—those who drive progress from the heart of their communities. #InternationalVolunteersDay #IVD2024 #ApnaMumbai #Apnalaya

Senior Care India (An appeal for Volunteering support) Dear Friends, We are in the process of setting up a website which will serve as a free resource platform for knowledge sharing on Eldercare in India. I strongly believe that, " Together we can bring a Change", so please come forward to share your intellectual assets for the larger cause. (We are not asking for money, just your wisdom and knowledge for everyone's future). To begin with, we need volunteering help and advice in designing a website, website hosting and maintenance. If anyone can help (pro-bono) please do message me personally. Sharing a brief synopsis of the concept; Concept: A free online resource platform commited towards bridging the gap in Elderly Care in India. Legal Status: A Volunteer group with advisors from different walks of life. Objectives: 1) Share information related on Senior Citizens Care Homes in India on the website. (Everyone will be able to search for an Old Age Home (OAH), Elderly Care Home/ Senior Citizens Care Home (SCCH) across the country based on district, locality, pin code, level of care and pay/stay, that too free of cost). 90% of the database has already been collated over a period of 1 year by me. 2) Share database of relevant senior care service providers. 3) Link all district information and database of Senior Citizens. 4) Share International standards and best practices in Senior Care. This is purely a non-profit and non-commercial initiative and all support will be through volunteers. (All financial outflow / expenses will be borne by me/well wishers and not by seeking funding, unless people want to help). Two domain names have been registered by me, (elderlycareindia.org and seniorcareindia.org). Do share your suggestions as to which name sounds better. Do share your views and feedback on elderlycareadvisor@gmail.com Pankaj Mehrotra #agedcare #longtermcare #carehomes #oldagehomes #dementiacare #memorycare #assistedliving #ageing #elderlycarehomes #seniorcitizenscarehomes #seniorcitizens #oldage #india #volunteering

#Leadership #Talent | In the last few years, there has been a shift in how India volunteers, driven by a combination of factors—government policies, the debilitating impact of the pandemic, and a growing awareness of social issues among the young. This surge in interest has increased in both kind and intensity. However, what civil society needs is for this voluntarism to transform into meaningful citizen engagement. Project Mumbai a nonprofit committed to driving social change through large-scale initiatives, believes that volunteering has the potential to bridge existing gaps. This can be achieved by making volunteering sustainable, identifying potential roadblocks, and understanding how nonprofits should approach volunteering. Read this article by Shishir Joshi (shishir joshi) to learn more about how nonprofits can turn this energy into lasting citizen engagement as interest in volunteering grows. https://lnkd.in/gcAsHuda
