I’m seeing a lot of new faces in my connections list, so I thought I’d introduce myself for the newcomers. So... hello. 👋 I’m John, and I’m… well, I don’t really know what to call myself. I’m definitely NOT a videographer. But I do make videos. So let’s just go with that for now. I’m John, and I make videos. Specifically, I make social videos for construction and mining companies. All things dirt world. It gets me MAJORLY jazzed up. I started as a web designer back in 2018. It was a blast. I got to travel around, meet new people, work from my laptop. But something was missing. I like to think that satisfying work is comprised of three factors: skill, enjoyment, and community. For most of my life, I only had two of those. 💀 I was doing work I liked for people I liked, but I wasn’t very good at it. 💀 Or I was doing work I was good at for people I liked, but I didn’t really enjoy the work itself. 💀 Or I was doing work I was good at AND work that I liked, but it was putting me with people I didn’t really vibe with. This is where I was when COVID-19 showed up and kicked the world right in the face. When that happened, I decided that the zombies probably weren't far behind, and I thought I needed some real-world skills. So I went to work for a small general contractor. AND… I fell in love. BIG TIME. But something was STILL missing. At this stage, I was doing work that I was good at for people that I liked… but I didn’t really like the work. Don’t get me wrong, it was a great feeling, working with my hands. But it just didn’t captivate me. What DID captivate me was the people. The human beings who did the work, and the human beings who benefitted from that work. THAT is what hooked me. So I set out to find a way to connect the people I loved to be around with the work I wanted to do. And that’s how Bridger Digital was born. Now, I spend most of my days in one of three ways: 1. Shooting in the field for contractors around the United States 2. Working in the office turning my raw footage into content 3. Meeting as many new people as possible so I can spend more time working on numbers 1 and 2. And holy H-E-L-L-double-hockeysticks, does that make me feel like one of the most fortunate people on the planet. So. Welcome to my LinkedIn. I'm glad to know you. 👊 (And if I don't know you, find the blue "Message" button and fix the situation!) 📷 Photo by Christina Keggi

🙈 I realize I've never taken a minute to introduce myself, so here goes! My name is Alex. I am a creative intuitive. And I'm going into tech. I was self-employed for a little more than a decade as a photographer / artist. What I've learned from being self-employed: 👉🏻 I love working independently but I love it even more if I work with other people united by the same goal. 👉🏻 The energy that you begin your day with will magnify throughout the day. So create a routine for yourself that will add wind to your sails instead of hindering your goals. 👉🏻 The tech world would benefit greatly from elevating female and female-identifying voices. 🚀 Excited for the tech adventure ahead! #TechTransition #DiversityInTech #mentormesh

After hosting various events, including coffee chats and office hours sessions on our platform, I've observed a growing interest among talents regarding the concept of ID verification. Many are keen to understand the 'why' and 'how' behind our practices. Consequently, I am initiating a series where I'll share insights, heuristics, and our approach to ensuring TheXPlace remains a secure environment for hiring in the Video Games industry. To kick things off, let's start with the question: Why do we prioritize ID verification? Firstly, it serves as a crucial step to confirm the authenticity of a talent's identity. We initiate this verification process to weed out fake profiles, eliminate bots, and ensure that our community comprises real individuals. Once your ID is verified, you gain access to our events. In order to unlock full access, applying for jobs, and making your profile visible to hiring companies require a comprehensive verification process. This involves scrutinizing the projects you've undertaken, further solidifying the integrity of our platform. Do you have any other questions / insights to share? Want to join us at TheXPlace? DM me or write me an email and I would be more than happy to provide you with the information. inbar@thexplace.ai #videogames #idverification #thexplace

I'm a Content Strategist on a quest to bring order to digital by implementing accessible and delightful paths in the products I collaborate with.
There are things you can’t control, but you can control your purpose. So as you know, I’m on the job hunt. After having my company for 10 years, it has been a waterfall of learnings. And not from a small stream, more like standing under the Niagara falls. Sounds violent and rough, the market is, but it’s been good. Being a scuba diver, I enjoy getting in the water, so there’s that. One of my concerns while looking for a job was related to purpose. A while back I adopted the motto “Mastery, autonomy, purpose” for being happy at my job–I can’t remember where I picked it from, it’s not mine, please remind me in the comments if you know. In Matrushka, our purpose came mostly from picking our clients. We only worked with organizations on the human rights and environment spectrum. And now, I thought, I’m not able to choose. These past days I’ve been attending some lectures at the Climate Career Week and yesterday to “How to integrate A11Y into the existing product workflow?” with Christopher Land. More than once it has been said that “every job is a climate job” and Chris related how with a few comments on accessibility a few years back he was “the accessibility guy”. [Insert sound of a cog making a click on a machine] ⚙ So, it hit me: there’s my purpose, aligned with my existing philosophy. It doesn’t matter where I land a job, I’ll make it my purpose there to be the “climate and accessibility girl”, wear the advocate hat and spice everything up with those two subjects. #ClimateCareerWeek Climate People Terra.do #FriendsOfFigma #Figma #Accessibility #ClimateCareer #A11y #advocate #purpose Figma

Real-time Remote Capture Metahuman Pipeline At Performit Live we typically capture everything remotely, and it’s not often that we have both the performer and a metahuman in the same room. This clip below gives a good example 👇 - On the left you have a perform wearing our technology & Meta Quest Pro. - In the Middle this data is transferred to our base rig. - On the right, the results are transferred onto a Metahuman. The data from the 18 sensors and 10 camera feeds, are all processed on the suit, synced and streamed in real time to create the end result on the right...without a PC at the capture end. We also work over cellular so the performer is also free to roam where ever they want. If you are on the other side of the performance such as director then you don't need to worry about: - Any technical set up with cameras or suits. - The upfront costs of hiring studios. - The upfront costs of buying or hiring the tech. - Sourcing professional performers. - Travelling & logistics. All you need is an app, a data connection and your vision. #livestreaming #MetaHuman #DigitalInnovation

I just got sung to and my feet massaged on my doorstep by strangers. Trust me, this is work related. Or so they told me. I answered the door to a very sweet group of people doing a challenge for their work Christmas celebration. Basically, they had a list of embarrassing things to complete and provide video evidence. And while I was happy to help, I couldn’t help but think “does this really build a team?” I can see where the designers were going with it; vulnerability, connection, problem-solving, fun… In the words of my friend and collaborator Eelco Bolk “and then?” It’s just not enough. What if there was a team program that was fun, invited vulnerability, problem solving, connection that actually connected back to work, values, purpose? What if all this happened with a good dose of development and helped individuals and teams grow? Oh wait! There is! We sell it – but it’s extra to touch my feet. DM me. Not about feet though please. Photo credit my friends at 360 Horizons on a program we collaborated on which was so much more than team building. #teambuilding #culture

CTO, Tech-Lead, Developer & Professional Rubber Duck @ Evolute - helping manufacturers to hear their customers
Celebrating Diversity with a Twist: Our "Virtual-End-of-(gregorian)-Year-kind-of-Christmas-Party-Game-Night" at Evolute CX GmbH! 😅 Yesterday, we did something a little different. Instead of a traditional christmas- or end-of-year party, we hosted a "Virtual Game Night," and it was a blast! Why a game night? Well, we're proud to have a diverse team that spans different cultures and calendars. With a mix of several religions and not everyone following the Gregorian calendar, a typical christmas- or end-of-year party just didn't feel right. Our team is a mix of on-site staff and remote developers. The developers, who work remotely, often miss out on the day-to-day interactions that happen in the office. So, we decided it was time to bridge that gap in a fun and inclusive way. The result? An evening filled with laughter, presentations from everybody about their lives and some gartic-phone-fun (Never heard of it? Google "Gartic Phone" 😉). it was a great opportunity to connect and learn more about each other. It's not just about celebrating the holidays; it's about celebrating our team's diversity and unity. Our Virtual Game Night wasn't just a "party" – it was a reminder that when we embrace our differences, we create a stronger, more connected team. 🙌 Here's to more inclusive and fun team events in 2024! Have you ever tried something similar in your organization? Let's share ideas and keep the spirit of inclusivity alive! #TeamBonding #DiversityInTech #InclusiveCulture #RemoteWork

At Netspeak we intend to be a place that unleashes potential - a place where people come to find out what they are capable of. ✨ We also intend for Netspeak to be a safe space; one where your team aren’t just understanding but encouraging too. 💛 Netspeak Games is a remote first studio and this week we've been reflecting on what that means to us and why it matters. As part of our focus on our studio and acting with intention in 2024, we'll be sharing more about our values & how we live by them to create a culture of inclusion and belonging in all that we do. ✨ We've been chatting with our Netspeakers and asked them to share what remote working means to them. "Remote working means I don't miss the best moments with my son, Leo. I was there when he stood up for the first time. He waved for the first time on a google hangout call! His first word was "Dog" - and we could never have had a doggo in the house if I didn't have the flexibility to support it" - Cally, CEO Netspeak Games. What does remote working mean to you? Share your thoughts with us. 💜 #NetspeakGames #GamesDeveloper #IndieDev #IndieGames #RemoteWork #GamesIndustry #CoreValues #ThoughtLeadership
