How many of my doctor friends have a back entrance into your practice? How many of you enter and exit this way, rather than through the door that patients use? As physicians, it's easy to have a false impression that we are doing better than we actually are, especially in regards to the patient experience. While we are spending time in the exam lane and operating room, we have no clue what is going on outside. It's hard to understand what a patient encounters unless you actually experience it yourself, which is why patient journeys and mystery shops are often eye-opening. It's a good way to gauge if you are truly delivering to your patients what you say you're delivering.
