Last week, I posted about the comments made by J.D. Vance and other Republicans labeling VP Harris as a DEI hire. This kind of rhetoric is not only disrespectful but fundamentally misunderstands the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion in our society. To me, these issues are fundamental to the workplace and our society: do we truly understand and value diversity, equity, and inclusion? What are our priorities as a society?
Recently, J.D. Vance and other Republicans have discredited VP Harris's government service. Do we value the work of teachers, non-profits, and all of those who have dedicated their lives to service? Or do we just value generating wealth? VP Harris's career is a testament to her dedication and hard work. Her achievements are not the result of tokenism but of her unwavering commitment to public service and her ability to navigate and address complex issues.
Today, VP Harris announced her pick for a running mate, and I am thrilled that she chose a man who believes in service, Tim Walz. A man who has served our country in the military, as a school teacher, and in government.
This is the kind of leader we need—someone who values service over self-interest and understands the importance of giving back to the community.
As someone who works in a Federally Qualified Health Center, and as a parent to a fourth-grade teacher and a nurse, I see firsthand the profound impact of dedicated service on our communities. It's time we recognize and uplift those who work tirelessly to make our world a better place.
Let’s continue to have these important conversations about what we value as a society and strive for a future where service and inclusivity are at the forefront.

Yesterday, J.D. Vance remarked, "I don’t know Kamala. I served in the United States Marine Corps and built a business. What the hell have you done other than collect a government check for the past 20 years?"
As the proud father of a grade school teacher who works tirelessly and receives a government check, I find myself asking: why do some leaders in our country devalue careers centered on service rather than profit?
Is building a business truly more important or valuable than dedicating one's life to serving Americans and striving to make a positive impact?
Our society should equally value non-profit workers, teachers, and others who work to improve the world as much as those who generate wealth.
It's time for our leaders to recognize the immense worth of those who choose service over profit. One day, we will see a world where these invaluable contributions are given the recognition they deserve.

There are times in life which make one reflect on what is important.
These last three weeks have been the most challenging period of my life.
My eldest son had a tragic accident in Australia on 1st April and through no fault of his own will never walk again.
His will power and determination are a lesson for everyone in my opinion.
On the day he was told that he was paralysed from the chest down, his response to the doctor was that there was always someone worse off than him.
My employer Johnson Controls have been truly phenomenal in their approach to me working from Australia for a few hours a day so that I can remain at Joe’s bedside.
At times like this you get to see how your employer will respond.
Thank you Jags Mukherjee and Andy EllisChris King MBA for your support.
I really enjoyed having the opportunity today to speak about Trustee recruitment at the Getting On Board Charity Board Leadership Programme.
I love the mission of Getting On Board to make trusteeship more accessible, effective and inclusive. If you're interested in how we improve the quality and diversity of Charity governance they do great work and are worth a follow.
I really enjoy being a Trustee and would encourage everyone to see that as a possibility that is open to them. As part of the session I was asked for my top tips for aspiring Trustees:
⭐️ Find the cause that lights you up from the inside - that enthusiam will shine through. Trusteeship can be a lot of work and sometimes it is hard. Find something you are really passionate about and where you think you can add real value.
⭐️ With Trustee recruitment we are thinking about the skills and experience of the individual but also how that balances to the rest of the Board. Think about what you can bring that may be different or missing. This does not always need to be a certain professional skill - think broader to how you can bring diversity of experience or perspective.
