I can make anyone love risk management!
This is what I said (infatuated?!) to my line manager a few years ago. 😊
We were talking about how to resource the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) facilitation team.
He was considering recruiting externally, with expertise and experience in ERM.
I wanted internal resources, and I was trying to convince him that anyone from Finance, Change Management, Credit, or Compliance is more appropriate and the business can benefit more than recruiting someone external.
And then he asked me, Claudia – do you really think they would fancy working in ERM, part time?
And I answered as above: I can make anyone love risk management!
And yes, I did make anyone I worked with or still work with to love risk management. To want to be part of the process and understand better the business and its complexities.
Or at least, this is what I think. I ask periodically for feedback, and this is the justification I have for my confidence. 😊
Three key success factors in achieving this. I tried to make the process:
➡ Strategic
➡ Trusted by the board
➡ Focused on decision making and actions
