LinkedIn friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers, I’ve decided to lace up my running shoes again this month, embrace the sweat, and run 100 miles in July for a cause close to my heart: Cancer Research UK (CRUK), with a specific focus on early diagnosis as in most cases the earlier we diagnose Cancer, the greater our chance of beating it. Coming up to the end of week two, I'm on 29 miles, but I'll be past 50 by the end of the week and on track to hit 100 and beyond! I'm proud to say that I'm not doing this challenge alone. I'm joined by some absolute legends from work: Rob Winter, Sophie Andrews, Catherine Gwilliam, Ben Leslie, Garry Hughes, Nick Loxton & Olly Simpson. Why 100 miles? Because running 101 seemed excessive...... My Goal? To raise £500. That's £5 from 100 people or £10 from 50 people, or, well, you get the idea. Every penny counts, and your support, as always, keeps me going and raises funds for this worthy cause. How Can You Help? Donate: Any amount, big or small, will make a huge difference. What does this awesome little guy have to do with lung cancer, you ask? This is one of our two dogs, Mr. Chew, and he LOVES walking at the Flowood Nature Park. I could have done better at self-care the last few years - including physical activity - and I'm working to change that. It's often easier to lace up my shoes if I have external motivators like Mr. Chew. Now, I'm adding another. Between now and October 26, 2004, I aim to raise at least $888 in support of LUNGevity Foundation. Their annual events, Breathe Deep TOGETHER and Breathe Deep ANYWHERE, are platforms for raising crucial funding to support all those living with lung cancer. I have two action items for my LinkedIn colleagues: 1) Please agree to be my "accountability partners" in my commitment to becoming more physically active while raising money to support LUNGevity's vital work, and 2) Please support my fundraiser if you can (link below). On the 25th of April, teams from many different companies will be working together with Google to help the Prinses Máxima Centrum voor kinderoncologie discover ways in which Generative AI can help them in their mission. This mission is to work towards a world where no kid has to go through cancer and where they can live a life free of the long term symptoms that often follow.
